Point number 1, and this will NEVER get old:
SOX WIN !! SOX WIN !! SOX WIN !!
Point number 2:
17 hits (checks for typo) no that's right, 17 hits!
Point number 3:
40th win (ref post 318 above: projecting 41 wins in "next couple weeks"?? HOW ABOUT TOMORROW! yeah baby!)
Point number 4:
Can we play Philly lots more?

FWVLIW For me, it will be really hard to top 2005, watching our Sox sweep while I was on vacation in Cabo with my 3 little boys, eating lobster and drinking margaritas, but hey, I can just feel this rebuild coming to fruition, and I am going to enjoy this journey to the fullest. Go Sox!

Sox send RHP Adrian Houser to Tampa:

The White Sox are getting infielder Curtis Mead from Tampa Bay, along with prospects Duncan Davitt and Benjamin Peoples.
Time will tell, but this looks like an underwhelming return for Houser considering what other SPs such as Merrill Kelly brought back in return. I’d much rather have who AZ got from Texas. I will admit that I’ve never been a Mead fan. Hopefully regular ABs can unlock the potential.

Looks like Luis Robert Jr is staying with the Sox.

This is better than giving him away. Other teams did not meet the Sox price... so Sox keep a speedy centerfielder who might yet get his stroke back. He's been biting way too much on that low outside fastball ever since his batting troubles began. Pitchers around the league know this.

Yeah, Houser seemed like he found a home and was just getting dialed in. Why would you even think about trading a starter with a 2.11 ERA and over 2:1 SO/BB ratio, who seemed like he was ramping up? And you get a middling IF and 2 relief pitcher prospects? Sox' IF seems set, so what are you gonna do with Mead? Are you even going to play him at all? Yikes. I don't get it. Somebody tell me more about these three guys and get me pumped up about this.

He'll be 33 years old in February. The Sox are currently 30 games under .500 and have the second worst record in baseball. They are, at least, two full seasons away from putting a team remotely capable of finishing .500 on the field and there's going to be a work stoppage in 2027. He's not part of the future of a team that is missing just about everything and are going young to improve their situation.

As Second Place wrote, the issue wasn’t trading Houser. On a one-year contract and unlikely to re-sign with Sox, his value was in a trade not him pitching in a Sox uniform for another two months. My issue was the return. Mead was considered a top prospect (#33 overall in 2023 and #55 in 2024) with his hit tool being his biggest strength. So far he hasn’t lived up to his billing, though in his defense he hasn’t gotten consistent, regular at bats. He also lacks a position defensively. I assume with makeup of team, they’ll try him at 1B where he was used the most this year by a slight margin over 2B. Hopefully regular at bats unlock his hit tool and he starts to perform like better than average major leaguer.

The other issue I had is that as Second Place points out, this team is likely two full years away from fielding a .500 team. The two pitchers they got are at AAA and not particularly strong prospects. Are these 3 guys going to get the team more competitive faster or raise the ceiling of the team? I have doubts. Would have rather seen them go with prospects with higher ceilings who are a few years from helping in majors. This isn’t likely to be a quick rebuild, so get potentially the highest ceiling players.

OK if Houser was on a 1-year contract then the deal makes sense, altho you would've hoped for more.
And maybe one of the 3 can pop like Houser did this year.
If you believe in regressing to the mean, we are due!

SOX WIN #41 - 6-3 over the Angels, in LA.
11 hits, 8 of 9 guys in the lineup got a hit or two.

FWIW: "Somethin's happenin' here, what it is ain't exactly clear..."

Sox are developing winning ways.

To continue in the spirit of FWIW...

“I think it’s time to stop, Sox fans... What’s that sound... Everybody look what’s going down!”

Sean Evans w opening pitch tonight. Should be a blast, and a well deserved return home after a solid road trip.

We were in two out of three of the games w the Mariners....errors killed us in the last one.

Looks like the Sox have decided that one more win than last year is enough. Five game losing streak.
😟

This team lacks enough talent to compete enough. Their record proves that. As we Sox fans know... the hope for the season is that the young talented guys that have come up to the Majors this season continue to develop – and so far they have. And also, that the next level of experience – like Sosa, Vargas – also continue to develop as they have shown some progress.

The Sox have too many fill-in borderline veterans in their roster yet. They need to fill those spots with solid players who know how to win. As well as getting some dependable relief pitchers that know how to save ball games.

And the Sox need a team leader-type guy. The guy to take charge on the field and in the clubhouse. A guy like Quero looks like he might be up to the job.

Those are the guys you trade for young players/prospects. You sign more of them every year, for a year or 2. You trade them if they have value, or let their contract expire. When you have enough young players you sign guys to fill the weak spots and go for it.

The errors are also killing us. Was at the game and the beginning was sloppy. We have to be on our A game to compete. If we’re not, our odds diminish quickly.
