Lamar Stevens was a very good player.

Not afraid of contact, crafty around the rim and a very nice shot when set, and off the bounce. Looking forward to seeing him develop and I predict he outplays his current ranking nicely. He reminds me a little of Kasparas.
Yes he can, and from deeeeep! But there's more to his game. I think this year he'll rise in stars with the gurus. Give him a year with Fletch's body sculpting; he needs to be bigger and stronger and show he can score through contact. That boy can shoot.
Yeah, dogs make life better. I've had labs my in life the past 30 years, and we had to put our last one down Christmas 2021. Rudy was a rescue lab I got in 2006, and was as lovable as a lab can get. He was a pretty damned good hunting partner too, from ducks and geese in Alaska to pheasants in North Dakota.I'm getting old and my concept of time has become warped, damaged no doubt by the COVID period of enforced isolation.
I recall making that post and citing Miss Dickinson; however, if I had to guess when I did that I would have said some time last summer or fall, not two summers ago. Anyway, thanks for citing it. It made me feel good to know that I provided some further levity two years after the fact.
As I noted, I'm swimming through molasses lately, at work and in life generally. That post reminded me that this, too, shall pass. I'm resolved that by the end of the month I'll be in a better place all around. Just in time to enjoy our football season.
And @Illini in Italy , you're spot on with that GIF. Thank you. Our 18-month-old rescue beagle (below: Caio, which is Portuguese for "Joy") makes life better no matter what. We had to put his predecessor, 16 years old and having suffered with an inoperable tumor for most of 2024, to sleep at 2 a.m. Sunday morning last Sept. 8 immediately after the Illini beat Kansas in that thrilling comeback. I arrived home from enjoying that at the bar with @Retro62 to find that Lucas could no longer get himself up off the floor and was in great distress. We lay there trying to comfort him for hours before acknowledging what we had to do. Just gutted me. He died happily, however, having enthusiastically lapped up a can of cat food I fed him (using a tongue depressor) that the vet provided.
Beagles are now inextricably linked in my heart with the Beloved.
It's off season for basketball. I'm allowed to go off-topic.

It's been a while since I unconsciously said "wow" while watching a highlight reel. At first, I thought he was a little guy with the purest stroke I've seen in a while. Then you see some elite shiftiness in moving the ball in his hands. And finally, some nice dunks. From this, he looks like he has ALL the tools. Can't wait!
FantasticI've been doing a Brunch and Bake today and groovin on a marvelous song that to this day still gives me goosebumps when I listen to the skills of each member of one of my most favorite bands ever..................
Kinda like the goosebumps I get from some stupendous Illini recruiting news...........

My wife and I decided not to get another dog, as we are traveling in our retirement days, and a dog would pretty much put a stop to it. Maybe someday . . .
As I've explained to my wife, if I lock her and the dog in the trunk and come back 8 hours later, I know who's glad to see me . . .![]()
