Edit: I think 16 is too much, personally. I think 8 makes more sense, but that likely would not help us.
FCS uses a 24-team postseason bracket and it works well for them. 10 autobids for conference champions, 14 at-large bids. The autobid part really wouldn't work at the FBS level since the P5 wouldn't want any of the G5 conferences getting more than the 1 they already get.
I was thinking this as well.
But it would allow for better non-conference matchups in the regular season. It would also reduce the number of bowl game opt outs which is happening for every non-playoff game. I despise the opt-outs but there's no way to stop it and no reason why top players shouldn't opt-out. So, make more of those games meaningful.
Illinois could get a home and home matchup with a top non-conference school every year. I find that better than Western Michigan. I do like the KU and Duke matchups at least.

Then, relegation happens. Conferences can gain or loose 1 playoff bid depending on performance of previous tournament, lowest win % by conference looses 1 playoff spot, best winning % gains a playoff spot next year.

No idea if that's true, but if his bluff is called, what then? As a fan, I rarely watch NBA anymore because the regular season doesn't matter, and the first round or two isn't much different. I may be in the minority, but my viewing habits would likely change if the playoff was so big there wasn't much drama in the regular season. I mean, who cares if the 32nd team gets in or doesn't?
I understand both sides. Like you are saying, expansion invites a lot more teams/fanbases to the party and that's a good thing.
On the other hand, you are destroying how special the CFB regular season is. Each game is so important. If we start seeing 6, 7, 8 B1G schools in the playoffs then you will start seeing schools rest players. Someone like tOSU could start 9-0, then rest guys the last 3 games. Obviously you can help prevent this by how you setup home field advantages and/or byes...but not completely.

If OSU is ranked #1, they'll still be playing for seed. Every team that is "in" will be playing for seed. Basketball teams don't sit players. About the extent you'll see is that someone may try and do a little injury recovery and that will be minimal.
What it will do is highlight the "bubble" teams. Like Illinois. They'll get more attention.
Nothing will be destroyed. Quit listening to the idiots on the radio/national writers.
Bielema seemed to think it will be a good thing. I'm not surprised.

I think itās more your devaluing the regular season titles - not the actual products.
Look at the NFL - everyoneās playing hard for seeds until the last week..:but nobody is hanging a banner up for being the #1 seed.
We get into this a little in the basketball threads of how much emphasis do you put on March madness vs regular season performance.

I'm not thinking about the sport overall or for anyone else, just my personal enjoyment of it. I've watched a number of leagues do similar things and it lessened my interest in the regular season.
As far as the scheduling of easy games go, the CFP just announced new enhanced metrics to reward tougher scheduling. Not a good year for that given we only have 2 top-25 teams on the schedule as of the preseason rankings. Duke and USC receiving votes.
Wonder which agentās stable he lands in to begin his coaching rehab stint? Was only able to find Fleck as a current head coach client. Others?

Won't matter. He won at a relatively high level at Northwestern. Some program will overlook all that baggage for a chance to see their win total jump.
