Altmyer passed Johnny Johnson for Illinois career passing yards on Saturday and is going to pass Beutjer against WMU. Then he'll have a couple games before Wes Lunt.

He passed Verduzco and Beutjer in Illinois career passing TDs to move into 5th all-time. He'll need 11 more to pass the next name (Trudeau).
That's great. Good ol' Johnny Johnson. He'd drive you nuts sometimes, but when he was on, it was fun to watch.

He'll always have a spot in my heart, remember exactly where I was at this moment.

At least according to DIA shopping portal, there’s less than 200 tickets left for the Rutgers game, both in the far corners upper deck. If there’s not a significant amount withheld for something, gotta think that one’s going to sell out in the next two weeks.

Agree with this assessment re: timing of the Rutgers sellout. I wouldn't say there's a significant amount of tickets withheld, but according to the website's network request data, there are 2,123 seats with the following sequence: "o",null,null,null,0 where "o" means it is an open seat, and the 0 means it is hidden. See below for an example of such seats in rows 70-75 of section 106.

I'd guess that as the corner sections of the East Balcony sell off a bit more, they'll release seats in these sections and throughout the remainder of the stadium. Plenty of time to sell out, but if we keep winning, I give it just a couple weeks like you estimate.

Does Olin Kreutz go to the Illinois games?

As a fan of the Bears, I always expect to see a cutaway to him during the games. Especially, as a member of the best Bears team in 40 years (not a typo we've had a rough...well my whole lifetime.

I suppose he could have requested not to be used in those situations. Through the teams media department or however that works.

I'm a WIVC area fan and I farm. So Saturdays in the fall are busy, never been to a game😔

I’ve wondered the same thing. I mean, even Jordan made it to a few games back in the day.

While reading through Duke University football fan sites, there’s a lot of love for the fighting Illini.

Basically they’re saying that our defense reminds them of a Duke defense in the past under some coach I’ve never heard of. They said our defense is fast to the ball, and that Luke is the real deal at QB, most posters seem highly impressed. And that Hank Beatty is a beast.

They say that we have no chinks in our armor and are very complementary of our team team. They were very impressed.

Anybody can build a computer model. ESPN’s is deeply flawed in that it ignores coaching, preparation, and the mental aspects of the game (critical, but tough to model, so let’s ignore them), substituting a biased assessment of recruiting. FPI is an incomplete and subjective number dressed up as a comprehensive objective model.

It has no predictive value. Any credible modeler would see the crummy comparison to all of the polls and go back to the drawing board.

On the Duke post game thread, @altgeld88 illustrates a huge gaping hole in the FPI model. Winning close games is more than luck. ESPN’s model ignores it entirely.

“Sitting close to the field last Saturday watching not only the game but our coaches and seeing how, despite sputtering in the 1H, we absolutely destroyed them down the stretch I was struck once again by the reasons why a team like ours wins many 50-50 games. It comes down to executive management and attention to detail. BB is a skilled executive. He surrounds himself with skilled managers, they inculcate in the players attention to detail, and there's a regular positive feedback loop of adjustment (see, for example, the substitution matter discussed above and the double-8s/lol/game-changer) that one-ups the opposing staff.”

He was injured in camp for one, and hating on some kid that doesn’t know who you are is pretty weird bud.
You're right. But I still think it's shame he left because I really like his game and wish he was playing for us. I hope by the end of the year he's better than their sixth option. I'd like to see him run wild in the post season and salt away a playoff game like he can. Right now, Valentine is my favorite Illini back. I really want it to be Feagin, but I'm not sold on him and hope I'm wrong because I love big backs and I cannot lie.

I see a lot of skills in Valentine that bring back memories of Reggie Corbin to my feeble mind.........I sure liked Valentine's late TD run and hope he continues to get more plays every game........His shake and bake is poetry to me.....it really really is..........wake and bake had a major influence on this post.....it really really did.........................

Just a reminder that from September 11, 2016 to November 5, 2022, we drew a crowd of over 50k ZERO times. With the sellouts already in hand, we could draw only 40k to the Rutgers, Maryland and Northwestern home games and STILL have an average attendance of 51k+ for the year. We will obviously draw a lot more than that for those games, but it's another crazy illustration of just how much Bielema has been able to increase fan interest!
