Our offer on the table isn’t even top 3 right now in terms of compensation …

Not saying $$ will be the end all, be all in this recruitment … But it’s certainly major piece …

My confidence in this recruitment has gone from an 8 to about a 4 at best …
At this point it might be time to move on to plan 1B.

If it only $$$ BY, KY, DK AR. Recruit has to value development, team success, coaching and life experience.

I get it, on the other hand, if he’s already earmarked as #1 pick, why not get as much money as you can and be the #1 scoring option on your squad? BMOC for one year.

If you are already going to be the top pick, then there is no need to be the workhorse. Do your job. Do it well. Don't put yourself in a position where you risk injury by being over used. Spend the year working on the body and lifelong habits. These will reduce your future chance of injuries, and increase your playing longevity. That is where the real money lies. The extra $1-2M in NIL is like getting 250-500k/year more on your second contract. It is in the negotiation noise if you are a top pick.

Moving forward, and after this past off-season, I refuse to get excited for any recruit until they are signed. I'm sure it is happening to other programs, but we seem to be in the lead until several major players outbid us and we pull back.
Buddy, I’ve been there for 3+ years.

Welcome to a much more peaceful existence.

It also helps that you know BU is going to get talent, just might not be the first 40 names you hear every year.

Completely random question but I thought insiders could answer

Nowadays, what is the normal way that coaches learn their player is transferring? How often are players sitting down to eye to eye and saying I'm going somewhere else, versus their agents reaching out to the coach before entering the portal, versus the coach learning when they enter the portal?

Some kids and families are wired differently. Egos play a part. Exposure. Handlers. Etc.

We will see I guess.
