“At the Illinois-USC football game on Saturday, Sept. 27, the band members will participate in the traditional sounding of the air raid siren . . .”

… someone please inform the youngsters in the sound booth that this needs to segue directly into Riding the Storm Out. 😉

Peoria native Gary Richrath, RIP. helluva guitarist

Kevin Cronin toured in his own this summer. The remaining band memebers on their own tour as well.
I wonder if they (REO) are going to patch things up for a day to be involved.

I've seen REO twice in the last couple of years. Saw them in Peoria at the civic center and they sounded bad. I think it was the venue. I heard them a year later at Hollywood Casino amphitheater and they sounded awesome. Both was with Kevin Cronin and the band.

Oh dear. Just the band all those Gen Z's want see.
If they are anything like my 17 year old son, they’ll love it. We have a classic rock station that plays pretty much anything from 1968 to 2000. When we are in the car, he’s singing along to most of the songs. I feel like my wife and I have raised him well when it comes to musical tastes.

I bet our first play from scrimmage will be to "Take It On The Run" up the middle

Oak Lawn native Kevin Cronin - St Linus parish

i grew up 2 blocks away from him. He was older - I didn’t know him . I knew of the family , but as I wasn’t irish catholic , I didn’t go to school with them .

REO, Dan Fogelberg & Head East are central Illinois biggest contributions to 60’s-80’s music scene

Really?? I was lucky enough to see Zac Brown Band at the Civic Center, and the acoustics were awesome! Meanwhile, I saw Jimmy Buffett at many different venues over the years, and I thought Tinley Park was the worst as far as acoustics go!

i did see in a press release that cronin was listed along with the other members, must have patched it up (momentarily, at least)

“REO Speedwagon formed at Illinois in 1967 after founding members Neal Doughty and Alan Gratzer met during their first week of classes in 1966 and started playing music together in their rooms in Illinois Street Residence Hall. Doughty and Gratzer will be joined by longtime members Bruce Hall, a Champaign native, and lead singer Kevin Cronin for a weekend full of Homecoming festivities.”

I saw the original REO Speedwagon at least 30 times at Merlin's bar in Carbondale , Il back in the day.....they were the house band for the bar back in the late 1960's .......Richrath had lighting hands and would bring down the crowd with outstanding riff's over and over again.......very similar to Eddie Van Halen playing style....................

ISR! 4 South was home my freshman and sophomore years (70-71). Great dorm back then. Think I saw REO in The Brown Jug and Chances R back then. Memory a little hazy at this point. All the beer I drank doesn't help.

What? No Light Brigade (which morphed into the Mackinaw Valley Boys, which morphed into Pork and The Havana Ducks)? The Light Brigade was one rockin' band in 1970. RIP Jerry "Pork" Armstrong.
