He’s also 3-0 in games where Illinois has been ranked in the top 15. 😜

We get it, you think we’re ridiculously outmatched, and none of us is surprised in the least by your pessimism.

He also has set numerous (positive) records at this school. Some of the same clowns who thought 9-3 was impossible at the start of last season continue their rhetoric.

Yes!! I believe I mentioned that at some point, but didn't get much feedback on it! Their interviews are basically the same! It's hilarious.

Wow, Mendoza is so good. I wish IL had a QB anywhere close to him statistically. Even better if he also hadn’t thrown an INT all year.

Edited to add: I think this going to be a really close game. These are two well-matched, extremely well-coached teams.

The big difference between the two in QB play is in their scramble ability and sacks.

Luke’s taken 9 sacks.
Mendoza just 1 sack.

Overall Luke 17 rushes -12 yards
Mendoza 15 rushes 72 yards

Those negative plays are what leads to drive killers. And whether you blame the o line, QB, OC- 9 sacks vs 1 sack is a rather large discrepancy in 3 games

Beebe’s last touch was with 9:34 left in the 3rd quarter. Not many coaches anywhere are going to pull guys at halftime. Although the QB was pulled at halftime with a 45-0 lead.

I can't speak for Illinois. But Mendoza has a really good OL and bunch of experienced WR talent. He should have a big season.

This is a silly comparison:

(1) why are we comparing a finishing season stat with where a team is ranked after three non-conference games?
(2) This is also true: Cignetti is 0-2 in his career at Indiana v opponents that finished the season in the top 79 of scoring offense. Illinois is currently #15. But that would be ridiculous to point out because of the timing (5 of the 6 games played by these two teams are going to be the worst in FBS or they're FCS teams).
(3) Again, this is why it's silly: Indiana played against the following offenses last year as ranked in scoring offense:

#5 (lost)
#9 (lost)
#80 (won)
#94 (won)
#98 (won)
#99 (won)
#100 (won)
#103 (won)
#123 (won)
#126 (won)
#129 (won)
#134 (won)
#NR FCS (won)

If you’re rotating backs with an insurmountable lead and a shutout, most coaches would give playing time to backups. Did IU fear losing the game if they let up with only a 45-0 lead? Outcome still in doubt? Feeling insecure?

What exactly is the point of running up the score on an overwhelmed cupcake? They’ve already taken enough of a beating to have earned their money. It comes across as either a lack of confidence or something worse, cruelty. Once the game is decided, confident teams exercise their depth and minimize risks to starters on both sides.
