I guess things were just seemingly going so well for us , that we were simply due for a major hiccup .
It’s not program defining .
Let’s hope it doesn’t become season defining .

We are still Illinois . We just can’t have good things .

This is likely true. It shows how ridiculous the AP polls are - bunch of random media voting based on last season a couple games this season. Truthfully, this team belongs at 40-50.

This very well could be program defining. We will see how the season plays out. Without a doubt, this will be remembered for decades to come.

My guess is 24 or 25, but we should really drop out completely. That was a bloodbath of historic proportions.

Based on who we've played this year, how we've played and what yesterday, we should be unranked. People need to quit fooling themselves or trying to convince themselves that this is a nationally prominent team RIGHT NOW. That doesn't mean that the shop won't turn around this year. Right now, there isn't one unit that's playing even marginally we'll. Both lines are below mediocre and that's where it all starts.

I told everyone before the game that unless the Defensive Line can get to the QB without blitzing, the corners will be left naked. Ditto that vs USC.

This team doesn't deserved to be ranked and RIGHT NOW isn't even a top 40 team. Again, that could change, but until both lines show a pulse .....it'll be much of the same. That first half vs Duke should have set the alarm off for everyone, but they let a wild set of first half of first circumstances (every single one in our favor) drove them to out the blinders on.

63-10 is obviously the extreme. However, a 41-21 final would have just about been on target.

Lets refocus the expectations, get to a nice bowl and try and keep the program momentum going. USC....not the ideal game to be following this one. They have legitimate studs on offense. The D-Line needs to show up and do something. Anything

Not many times a team goes from top 10 to unranked for losing on the road against a top 20 team. My guess would be 20-25.
Not many times does a top 10 team lose by over 50 points either. The Illini may remain ranked (due to preseason hype), but it is hard to argue that this Illini squad deserves it.

For whatever it's worth Brett McMurphy dropped us completely out of his Top 25 with the loss yesterday.

He’s right. No one should remotely think this is a top 25 team. At this point hope for wins against Wisconsin Purdue and NU and steal one more. We may be Wisconsin bad.
