Have you ever broken a rib? I have. The 10th left. You can't function as a normal human being for weeks, let alone as a major league pitcher.

Drink more milk, I say, and cut out the crap. Truth.

Hopefully the offense is coming around, they’ve scored a lot of runs this week. In my mind it would be surprising if the Cubs don’t take two out of three from the Padres at home.

I heard they were saving all the bats, that still had a lot of hits left in them, for the playoffs

Win the first 2 and get some rest.

Counsell has sone decisions to make with the rotation. San Diego is not as strong against lefties but Imanaga is not pitching well right now. With Horton out until the DS, I wonder if Counsell will go with Boyd and Rea the first two games with Taillon going game 3. Or go with Imanaga game 2 with Boyd game 1. Then we have to figure the bench. We should only need 12 pitchers we could have several bats o the bench. Castro, Ballestros, Turner, and either McGuire or Amaya or both as having three catchers is a good thing. Possibly Alcantara as a defensive replacement/pinch runner role would work. Will be interesting how this plays out.

Just my opinion but I think the fact that Horton is out puts Imanaga in a starting role in Game 2, unfortunately or not. I think Taillon gets the nod before Rea in Game 3.

I’d be shocked if Shota doesn’t start a game in this series. He’s pitched well against Padres last two seasons. I think it will be Shota, Boyd and Taillon if it goes 3 — though not sure about order. I think they’d feel more comfortable with Rea out of the pen than any of the other starters. Hopefully Cade is fully recovered for next series.

Not sure how the Padres lineup is with regards to left/right hitters but if they are heavy one way or the other, may want to split up the two lefties to give the Padres a different look.

Like I have said, SD does not hit as well against lefties. It’s a huge power drop off and a 10 point average drop. Boyd should go Game 1 for sure even though no starter has been announced from CC.

I know that there are different degrees (types?) of rib breaks. The ones that I am familiar with he wouldn't be pitching before Thanksgiving. Hopefully his is less serious.
