Him or Dillingham …

And I expect change there … Franklin is very much getting the word out there that he is open to a move …
Wild, honestly. Unless he expects to be fired, why would he move?

Same with Penn State. I know they haven't won like they wanted to, but man could things get so much worse for them than they are.

Once again, it was not meant to be a one-to-one comparison.

It's meant to highlight that fans are not just going to be like "Oh he's an alum! Oh cool!"
the faux love that some fans here and at other schools have for their own version of a “meechigan man” is ridiculous .

it really doesn’t matter a bit to me what school a coach graduated from .

It's all theoretical love. Typically, once you actually have to decide between real life candidates with real life resumes, the candidate with connections only wins out if there's a strong argument he's better qualified.

Been thinking about the Michigan Man thing for many potential openings:

Oklahoma State- they fired their ultimate Michigan Man, but they do have Zach Robinson on their list

Arkansas- That is Rashlee, plus ex-assistant Jeff Traylor is also pretty qualified

UCLA- they don't have a lot of Michigan Men to pick from and they just fired one of theirs

Florida- nope. Fired Dan Mullen in a previous cycle. Side question: does ex-Urban Meyer assistants count as Michigan Men for the Gators?

Penn State- despite all of my previous posts, I say no. Never say never though

Kansas State- Only they have a Michigan Man that is a nominee for other HC jobs, Collin Klein. Plus the fanbase and others are not fan of Klieman this season.

Wisconsin- This is a $64000 question. They are in their 2000s Nebraska arc with Fickell being their Callahan. Who is their Pellini? They also have versions of the Monken brothers in Lance Leipold and Andy Kotelnicki. Badger should go after them,

Arizona State- They need their boosters to pony up to keep their Michigan Man, Kenny Dillingham

Texas Schools (SMU. Baylor, etc)- There is a cousin of the Michigan Man, the UIL Guy. The UIL is Texas's IHSA. Joey McGuire (Cedar Hill) of Texas Tech is the current patron saint of the UIL guys and Art Briles (Stephenville) is a fallen saint. Jeff Traylor (Gilmer) of UTSA will high on a few TX schools list

This last part is pure comedy- Imagine if Michigan ever considers hiring the other Harbaugh....

I mean, what debate their was over the Patriots dynasty between who was responsible for it - Brady or Belichick - has been answered with Brady winning another SB on a different team and Belichick not winning anything after Brady left, this is just driving nails into the coffin of that argument at this point. Maybe he really was the coach that was HC of the Browns all along and was lucky enough to be Brady's coach is the only real standout thing about him.

I should have clarified. I meant head coach leaving one Big Ten job for another head coaching job inside the conference. The coordinator merry-go-round was always "acceptable" within the B1G, even under Delaney.
Not sure that distinction makes that much of a difference. If you're poaching my head coach why should I care what job you give him? Make him the highest paid janitor in the country for all I care, still means I need to find a replacement for my head coach.

Franklin is not winning NCAA championships at Happy Valley but the only Paterno NCAA championships were in 1982 and 1986.

His last 11 seasons 2000-2011 Paterno only averaged 8 wins per season.

Franklin in 11 seasons (not counting this year) is averaging 9 wins per season

Unless they can get Cignatti not sure they should fire Franklin.

Nebraska has never recovered from firing Bo Pellini for averaging 9 wins per season for 7 years (worse year was 9-4). Since then (10 years) under Mike Riley, Scott Frost and Matt Ruhle they have avg 5 wins per season

Brian Kelly is very lucky to have Franklin and Sark struggling this year. He's the next coach up in the "can't win the big games". His buyout is huge too.
LSU has 3 top 10 teams and a tough Vandy left.

If he doesn't go at least 2-2 that seat is going to be scalding

definitely sounds like a planted story. I'd guess a wealthy, well-connected booster that wants to - anonymously - get the conversation rolling on this.

regardless, yea, 56M is no small number. And it only goes down by 8M/year. But Texas A&M paid $75M to buy out Jimbo Fisher, so i guess if there's a will, there's a way.
Or, in the case of A&M, also a metric crap ton of oil money……

Not saying he will move but the pressure is mounting …

If Texas, Ole Miss, or Florida open … That’s a pretty easy decision to make if I’m Franklin at this point …
