I mean, what debate their was over the Patriots dynasty between who was responsible for it - Brady or Belichick - has been answered with Brady winning another SB on a different team and Belichick not winning anything after Brady left, this is just driving nails into the coffin of that argument at this point. Maybe he really was the coach that was HC of the Browns all along and was lucky enough to be Brady's coach is the only real standout thing about him.
It's an amazingly dumb argument. A QB needs a good coach and a coach needs a good QB to win.

Brady won with Bruce Arians a .630 career non Brady coach with a top 5 defense. He only played in five seasons without a top-10 defense, and he won all six of his Super Bowls with a top-10 defense,

Belicheck was coach and GM of a top 10 D 16 of his 23 years. Not to mention bringing in some dudes on O. In the salary cap era.

They were both the best ever at what they did, even if Belicheck is failing at college coaching and Brady at announcing.

And don't forget playing in the AFC North all those years 😉

True that. I'm the same age as BB and do not have a hot 24 yo GF. I also don't have an 8 figure bank account. Maybe that's a factor............

I seriously am shocked at how far Bill has fallen …

He’s ruined his legacy … At least in my eyes …
That's a little extreme IMO. Yeah, he should have retired a couple years earlier and stayed retired. Last I checked, he still went to 9 super Bowls, winning 6 of them. He went to 13 AFC championship games and won 11 straight division titles and 16 in 17 years. You can't just ignore that part of his record

Technically true, but recency bias says his current clown show is foremost in peoples’ minds. He’s creating the pinnacle of his reputation now.

That didn’t help the legacy … lol …
You are right, his legacy has taken a huge dive, The game has changed especially in college. This could be a one and done for Bill. This offseason we could see a flurry of Power 4 teams changing coaches. Ole Miss, Texas, Florida, Penn State, Colorado, Iowa, Michigan and possibly Indiana. We have UCLA, Arkansas and Oklahoma State already moved on to other options. Add Minnesota to the list as Fleck may jump onto one of those openings. What do you think, Indy?

Not dismissing it … But the numbers never lie …

And the college football experiment has been a total failure …

No question. I watched the first half of their game last Saturday against Clemson, and I'm not sure I've ever seen a college team look that bad - players out of position, terrible tackling, lack of effort. I never thought I'd see a team that was more poorly coached than the Lovie Smith teams here, but somehow UNC was worse.

He accomplished a ton.

But reputation is not a list of someone's accomplishments, it's what people remember. I always find the arts to be an interesting case study in this. Somerset Maugham was a prolific author who sold more books than James Joyce. I've never read any of them and I bet none of you have either. He died 60 years ago and is already pretty much lost to history. On the other hand, Joyce died 85 years ago, people still read his work, and will still be reading his work in another 100 years.

A lot of people are going to remember the latter NE years and the clown show that is his tenure at UNC.

Stanford Football just received a $50 million donation from an alum. Should make that gig more attractive, but as long as they remain in the ACC, it’s going to be an uphill battle for them.

I have. Although more Joyce than Maugham.

Dunno why this argument bothers me, but alas:

The Browns are already baked in to his legacy.

He was 47-57 without Brady on the Pats, including going 11-5 with Matt Cassell & 10-7 with Mac Jones.

Brady & Gronk leaving left 28M in dead cap during the 2020 covid season. Then Mac Jones to Jonnu Smith wasn't quite the same...his last 3 years the D DVOA was 5th, 3rd and 9th. Doubt that's a legacy breaker.

UNC, ok? It's a different sport.

I don't think people will remember this UNC run by Belichick unless it turns out to be way, way worse than previously thought. Do anybody really Jimmy Johnson as Dolphins coach, Bill Walsh's second Stanford run, or Vince Lombardi's Redskins run? Heck Lombardi died while he was Redskins coach. I would not be surprised if asked this board "name me a team that Bruce Bochy won a World Series managing" most people here would not even the team he won with two years ago.
