Held them to 34 points. I think if you told us that yesterday, we all would have taken our chances.
Holding them to 34 points isn't good overall. But given 3 turnovers on your own end plus kneeling a punt at your own 38 then holding them 34 points was a good effort. I thought we would need to score 24 points or more and not turn it over more than once or not at all. If we hadn't turned it over 3x and knelt down once on the punt. The D played well enough to hold OSU under 24 pts.

In the 50 years of watching Illinois football, and college football, in general, I can't, soberly, remember two plays in a game where the receivers of the ball took a knee to catch the gosh darn thing. To me, this is so Illinois, and at home no less! Where is the coaching? Where is the player development. Quite the failure on the coaching staff. Obviously there were other mistakes throughout the game, but please! I am still speechless about these plays.

The sad thing is, those of us sitting at home and not coaching had been saying this all week. 🫤🤷🏼‍♂️
Tunnel vision when it comes to being an “expert” is a real and dangerous thing, IMO. I’m just a humble consultant, but it’s amazing how quickly a “qualified expert” can flip flop between (A) ironclad confidence in his historic approach, (B) doubting everything and listening to the “peanut gallery” way too much and (C) then ignoring all of the actually legitimate critiques from said Peanut Gallery and returning to a comfortable strategy that hasn’t been working lately … and failing.

That metaphor was for our OC, not HC.

I agree, it’s the way it happened that is killer.

That still doesn’t change the fact that going to bed last night, 90% of us would have taken OSU scoring 34 points and ran with it.

Not me. I wanted a chance to win. I didn't feel we could score over 34 points vs OSUs D and I don't think OSUs offense is as good as Oregons, Indianas, and probably some others. They only scored 14 vs Texas, 24 vs Washington and only had 13 in the first half vs Ohio. We left them short fields 4x inside inside our 40. Can't do that.

There was some muckety muck at the game. After the game they went roaring down first street in a seven car police escort. Big plain black SUVs and everything.

Idk if anybody else watching the Oregon vs Indiana half time show they showed highlights from our game the only of our offensive play they showed was the luke strip smh.has me fell8ng like Rodney Dangerfiield the disrespect I me can considering no one has scored more then a touchdown on there season till today could of been a upbeat part of the report but the favoritism to the sec and the big boys is just shameful

I just have to come back in and really talk....heavy talk...about how our coach sounds after a meltdown @Indinia...and this tough game vs. #1.

We've never....ever....had a coach more eloquently and logically talk about this program. Where we are, where we've been, and where he wants it to go.

Owns. Every. Single. Aspect. of this program. It's insane that we can come away from these types of losses.....and still feel good about our football team/program.

I really hope we can hold off world destruction/ alien invasion/ Armageddon for a while longer so we can see the pinnacle of this.

Unless the aliens have a couple 5 star linemen we can talk them into enrolling here first.

"Whoa whoa whoa...hold your tentacles....can we interest you in a Natty before you turn us into your slaves and sex toys?"

I don't know how the computer rankings go, but kinda suspect we might go UP there.

Help me understand please. Seriously. Is there no rule, no penalty, for pushing eligible receivers out of bounds? It happened several times, once in the end zone to prevent a catch (not the reviewed play after the catch). Defender with back to the ball just pushed with both hands. If it’s allowed we should shove every receiver out of bounds every chance we get. They were getting away with it so I assume it’s allowed.
It's allowed if the ball ISN'T in the air when the push happens. Obviously, our guys were pushed out several times with the ball in the air. We do that to them, there'd be flags all over the place. They do it to us, nothing. And only because of who they are. It's absolutely ridiculous and bs like this is honestly just making sports much less enjoyable to watch. It's pretty much to the point of, "what's the point of even watching if you know the golden goose of the league is gonna get away with murder and get 95% of calls or non-calls in their favor?"

Yes - 5 5-stars and 44 (!) 4-stars. The best team money can buy from a talent viewpoint.
To put that in perspective, that means their third string has (49-44=5) four stars, nearly as many as our current roster.
I’m excited about our recent recruiting classes, but we need to keep stacking 4 star talent year over year to narrow the speed and athleticism gap.

Thought this was gonna be Indiana 2.0 after the 1st quarter.

Some ways it was, other ways it wasn't.

They did to us what we did to Duke. Frustrating loss, but not a season ender.

And to that point, the season is much bigger than this singular game. I said it in a different thread, but this was the perfect timing for this game, the bye week, and then at Washington.

Get healthy, get clear minded, get crootin', get scoutin', come back and start the 2nd half with a bang.

The field judge had a very ..... marginal game.

Bilema always says don't beat yourselves and a few plays can decide who wins a d who loses. The first pick was a good defensive play that went up in the air but the other 2 TOs, kneeling the punt and false start at the goal line just must be prevented to have a shot vs OSU. That said we are heading the right direction. Oline looked solid, D played well considering all the mistakes on offense.
