AH needs to return to the private sector and forget about coaching. He’s not good at this.

I loved John Groce as a person had a couple of opportunities to meet him was always a respectful and energetic guy truly wish he had more luck with the beloved but wasn't the guy.i cant say anything about Aaron Henry personally seems like a nice guy but with his defenses nice guy or not definitely looks overmatched and not ready we should demand more as a fan base that hopes to aspire to the top 3rd half of the big

Out of sync a bit on offense, never seemed to get in a really good groove. Of course it didn't matter much when your defense is so bad. 6 TD's in 7 possessions. Yikes. #12 is their best receiver and he ran free in our secondary all day. On to Rutgers. 9-3 and a great season is still in reach.

Step back from the ledge, this is a loss most folks were foreseeing as WA is a tough out at home for anyone not named tOSU. We can finish out strong and finish a 9-3 season which will be what . . . one of the best seasons in the last 30+ years of Illinois football.
Yep, we didn't win 5 games this year so far with a D as bad as today.
We came back from IU, we'll come back from today

I’m sorry to be this dramatic at this point in the season but I’m just so disappointed.

We really threw away a huge opportunity this year. We have the talent, but have failed to get out what we could have. We don’t get these chances often.

So much promise and we’ve pissed it away.

We’ll end up with a decent record (hopefully), but at this point are completely out of playoff contention. We had a real chance this year and squandered it.

Swiss Cheese defense-No answers, No pressure. Truly disappointing! Bret needs to be looking for guys that can and will play defense! He currently doesn't have anyone that can do that. On to Basketball.

Agree, but you also need some big time players.
Yep need some dudes on the defensive side, woefully unathletic and bad fundamentals ...and a new DC is definitely in order. If we want to get to the next level, we need some serious upgrades.

Serious question here: how many teams have 3 double-digit losses as a ranked team in one season before? We accomplished that in 8 games this season...

Our average loss this season is by 29 points and our median loss is by 18 points! Being 5-3 at this point of the season was actually acceptable given the front loaded nature of this schedule, but to lose three games by 3+ scores (as a ranked team) is what makes it so disappointing. We simply have not been competitive in a majority of the games against top-tier opposition.

We can still have a great season if we handle business in November, but the excitement from mid-September is completely gone.

I'm not happy to be right, but I called it in the pre-game thread. So who do you think our DC will be next year?:
"Our "can't get off the field on 3rd down" defense was on full display vs. OSU. OSU was 8/15 on 3rd down conversions, incl. several 3rd & 10+ yards. My take is that had we not given OSU short fields with our turnovers/punt mistake, that they would have gone on long, sustained, time consuming scoring drives, giving us less possessions and much less time-of-possession (which was already OSU 33:11 ILL 26:39). This Illinois team would be very good and CFP deserving if we had even a mediocre defense (currently 14th/18 B1G in defensive yards allowed per game)."

Disappointed beyond Belief........typical Illinois....plenty of how good we are to start the season, then a dumpster. Just so so frustrating. Defense top to bottom gotta go !!!!
