You aren't eligible to return if you went through the draft process.
But we have seen that the ceiling for other programs keep rising, so we must keep up with inflation. I do agree that we can probably always find a guy that fits for what want to pay, but Dix got like $2M. Who expected that?agree. FWLIW, setting pay ceilings for all prospects and adhering to them should be the default. I think it is, by and large, with our staff. It helps a ton that we're adept at pivoting
I think we are past the peak. The true game changers -- the top 5-10, sure lottery picks -- will continue to get paid, and paid well. Anyone who needs development is going to get a lot less. A euro pickup (-ic), or a transferring upperclassman will usually perform better, for less, and with likely with less attitude (including parental attitude). But we have seen that the ceiling for other programs keep rising, so we must keep up with inflation. At this point that’s not necessarily trueYou aren't eligible to return if you went through the draft process.

Euros and upperclassmen transfers are not immune to their prices going up due to competition. Dix was an upperclassman transfer. Sarr was a Euro. We got priced out of both of them.I think we are past the peak. The true game changers -- the top 5-10, sure lottery picks -- will continue to get paid, and paid well. I think on Werners podcast he mentioned that he would've been a top paid big had he entered.I could swear I saw somewhere it mentioned that Tomi could've gone to market for more money than he got from us this off-season.
That is not a surprise…..I think on Werners podcast he mentioned that he would've been a top paid big had he entered.
Sure, but to be fair every player who returned could have entered and made more money on the open marketI could swear I saw somewhere it mentioned that Tomi could've gone to market for more money than he got from us this off-season.
I'm just saying that (and what you're saying too) to illustrate that we will not win any recruitments where money is a leading motivator.Sure, but to be fair every player who returned could have entered and made more money on the open market
Tre White says hello….From a pure money perspective, should a player always enter the portal after each season and go to the highest bidder? That would frequently mean a different school each year in college. Long-term that might not be best for their development, but from a "just grab the money now" perspective it may be optimal.
Likely right but Tre '7 schools in 7 years' White might not prove the rule.Tre White says hello….
for high end players maybe. but there are plenty of players why enter the transfer portal and can't find another home. so it's a riskFrom a pure money perspective, should a player always enter the portal after each season and go to the highest bidder? No guarantee they stay the same player. Many guys flip a good situation for an unideal one (just for the cash), and it backfires. From a pure money perspective, should a player always enter the portal after each season and go to the highest bidder?
