For as long as I’ve been a fan (since 1981), Mackey has always been the loudest arena around. The metal bleacher seats and metal roof are key factors. The recent renovation likely added to that. This annoys me more than it should. It wasn't that long ago that Mackey was just another Big Ten gym - difficult to win at but only to the extent that all Big Ten gyms are. And it was our Assembly Hall that was routinely lauded as one of the premier environments in the sport.
The product on the court has something to do with it. But I still contend that the main reasons for our diverging home atmospheres are:
1) Mackey dedicates about 40% of their seats to students. SFC dedicates about 20%.
2) We moved students off the court after the renovation. Which compounds the mistake of having a smaller student section.

I agree, they cannot hit from 3 with any regularity. I was not impressed with State last night against Arky. Carr is good but we can stop Fears with our bigs.I took Arkansas money line. I think they snatch a win in breslin.
we need to play zone against MSU. they can't shoot from the outside at all. pack it in!
Izzo is once again complaining about the state of college basketball. I think he hangs it up after this season.maybe should indict him over the trainer fiasco.................
I thought the same thing, to be honest. Alabama will be very tough to beat. They crash the boards and their bigs are very good at forcing contact when driving... just going right into the defender. Philon and Holloway are so quick-- St. John's couldn't stay in front of those guys. Yeah, they play fast, hectic, sloppy at times, but they are very athletic and always seemed to seemed to be in the lead even when it felt like they should be losing. How so?
Honestly I think The Johnnies are highly overrated,I see your point but I still like our chances with all our core players back and hoping it’s not the day after someone’s birthday.I thought the same thing, to be honest. The flip side is I have no clue how good we might look with everyone (including Ty) healthy.
Those of us with YouTube TV will just have to take your word for it.I hate to say it but Indiana doesn’t look bad.
A little bit of both am assuming. Is IU that good or is Marquette that bad?
Fundamentally, MU team is not very good at playing basketball this year. Good collection of athletes, but they might be a better soccer team. JMHO after seeing about 10 min. of that game.Is IU that good or is Marquette that bad?
Looks like last weeks schedule to me.Been making some updates here:
Schedule and scores should update on their own every hour, records should update every morning. Unfortunately I have to update the Kenpom rankings myself
Green games are wins, red games are losses, yellow games are currently playing

When I first became a fan as an elementary school kid in the mid-2000s, absolutely no one would have said Purdue was the hardest place to play in the Big Ten, though, and now it’s practically a unanimous pick … so something has definitely changed, mainly Purdue actually being good! I don’t doubt Mackey always had the setup to be the loudest, but their crowds weren’t anything special. Back then, the arenas you heard about were always Illinois, MSU and Wisconsin. For as long as I’ve been a fan (since 1981), Mackey has always been the loudest arena around. You’re right though… the Paint Crew (formerly the Gene Pool) is one of the most vocally present student sections going.
they kept running the lob to carr and Kohler baseline and Arkansas never adjustedI agree, they cannot hit from 3 with any regularity. I was not impressed with State last night against Arky. Carr is good but we can stop Fears with our bigs.
devries and Wilkerson are relevant. they will likely get in the tourney with that if they defendIs IU that good or is Marquette that bad?
