And all of a sudden that 4th B1G spot is down to just 2 teams, Michigan and USC. USC needs a win @ Oregon and Michigan needs to beat tOSU. Plus winning their other games of course. Not looking likely.

pretty much. its why the B1G wants a set up of 4 auto qualifiers.

A year will come with the same thing for the SEC once they play 9 conf games

I’m rooting for USC for Illini purposes. I’d like to see Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa and others with similar records to us to keep losing so we finish at least in 5th place.

I'm very confused why CBS picked PSU @ MSU this week. They could've picked Iowa @ USC or Wisconsin @ Indiana. Both those games are on BTN.

Unless BTN has priority over CBS?

I speculated last week that there might have been some sort of trade to get a better game next week...maybe USC @ Oregon?

I want USC to keep winning as it makes us look better and they are still locked into PAC12 bowl tie ins so it will not affect our bowl aspirations.

As far as I'm aware, it wasn't illegal. Cheesing the system? Yes. Will it likely happen again? No. They got their one in.
It was illegal.

Sam Johnson, the Trojans' regular punter who wears No. 80, punted for the first time on the next possession. At that point, the Big Ten said in a statement, USC should have been penalized under the NCAA's “Unfair Tactics” rule (Rule 9, Section 2, Article 2).

Paragraph D states, “Two players playing the same position may not wear the same number during the game.”

No, the fake punt wasn’t illegal because it was the first punt of the game. When the actual punter took the field later in the game, that was illegal and should have been a 15 yard penalty.

the fake punt was not illegal . it was simply unethical . Robert explained it fairly well

as stated above , the second punt of the game was illegal.

everyone remembers that team in their youth in Little League or biddy basketball , when that opposing team mgr or coach was known for stretching the rules to get an extra base, run , or out of bounds call .

look like Lincoln Riley is that guy . switching jerseys aka Wiscy did to us a few years back or USC just did to NW, has that stink on it

Yes, that is what the Big Ten said. This is why they had to do it the first time they lined up in punt formation - because it was then illegal to have the real punter line up as number 80. So I guess technically the fake was legal and then every subsequent punt was illegal.

I expect a rule change to prevent this - perhaps having rosters and numbers submitted in advance, like a basketball scorebook.

This is already the case, as the backup QB was listed on what’s called the “Friday Roster” that is submitted for the game the next day.

NW nor the refs ever caught it because it’s impossible to know what each player looks like in full pads. (Especially when they have the newly numbered player dress EXACTLY like the original player to complete the disguise)

USC knew what it was doing the whole way and shows that finding ways to win trumps all.

I think Iowa beats usc. The Trojans have been struggling with physical teams for years, and Iowa does what they do pretty well.
