Woooah Nelly!
Great Win!
The ref that called that flagrant should never work again. One of the worst calls I have ever seen.
Actually, radio explained, never played the ball, just grabbed the player. Yes, not malicious, just had to swipe at the ball and was correct call per Dieon...

I'm not sure about that. Reviewing the tape, when Toppin got in the paint and went for a layup, our players backed-off and didn't even attempt to alter the shot..There were no fouls on these layups..

The only way someone would argue that the refs were biased with the foul disparity is if that person only looked at the official stats and did not watch the game..If you watched the game, it was properly called except the flagrant at the end..
May have missed some fouls on us but definitely missed more on Texas Tech. Also there were 2 or 3 missed walks on Toppin which directly lead to scores.

Btw, we're not saying we LIKE the rule or the fact that a foul was called there. Just pointing out that a flagrant CAN be called if you grab a hold of the player. So don't do it.
My problem with the call is that defensive play has been allowed and expected for so long, that Boswell probably didn't give it much thought. In addition the announcers were so convinced it was NOIt was a bad call, thatT a flagrant after the review. IMO, if the TT player had not slipped and fell down, it would not have been called. Boswell did not just grab him and throw him down. I hope to hear an explanation for future consideration (especially if the circumstance sare reversed for the Illini). It was a bad call.

The one thing I did notice that this was the type of game Jake Davis didn't really fit well. I think he will have some great games though, he just seemed lost out there and not looking for his shot. Not sure we will see him continue to start with Andrej back and Petro returning.

My question is why wasn't the foul after Wagler's rebound not a flagrant? If you look side by side, it's hands down more "malicious" than the one on Boswell.
Are you implying that refs apply rules consistently across every game? Personally, I still get bitter whenever I see any dunk that isnt a flagrant after the Melendez call.

🤦‍♂️ We can stop now.

Look I was trying to be light about it. In my opinion whatever your intention the jokes came across as creepy and over the top. As a married man myself with a daughter it made me uncomfortable. Seems others agree. You can take the feedback or leave it, just sharing my thoughts.

We haven’t had a player be able to finish at the rim like Andrej in a long time. Domask was similar but he used more of the booty ball to get it done. Andrej is definitely more of a slasher. Looks so smooth doing it. Great weapon to have if you’re having trouble scoring in your offense. Turn him loose and your set! Played great defensively also. Ivisic played well 1st half and looked like he reverted to his old Arkansas self in the 2nd. Have to keep practicing with him to stay on his feet. Absolutely great team win and makes you believe we can beat anyone especially with the quality of players we had sitting out. My only concern with this game was the free throw discrepancy even though it did look like TT was pushing and shoving quite a bit more than we were.

I was having a laugh after a big win. And tell me you’re not the board police (counting my posts 🤣🤣🤦‍♂️) while being the board police. Take your med’s you’ll be fine.

Back to the Illini...

This. He and Boswell appear to have great communication. The 2 man defensive game they played was fun to watch.

Andrej, Tommy Kylan and David will be some level of all big 10.

Hard to believe we beat TT w/o Tommy or Mihuelo. This team will go 9 deep. Crazy talent.

Brad is killing it on recruiting and roster construction. Big Z may be best backup center in country.

Cant wait to play UConn. Revenge!

Bad typing there on my part. The announcers did NOT think it was a flagrant

You are seriously going to write all of this about not having guys able to finish at the rim when we watched TSJ decimate teams doing that 2 years ago?

Great first half. Looked a little out of sorts at times in the 2nd half. That is 3 games in a row, Needs to be addressed. Stok has got it all, Boz is our leader, Keaton is hard to handle, and Big Z defends the rim.
My one Big disappointment was defending Toppin. He is without a doubt a great player but the Illini had absolutely no answer. Boz played him the best. I guess from my point of view everyone in the gym knew he was going to the right so why didn't we over play him and make him go left time and time again.
We are going to see a lot of good Bigs from other teams so Brad needs to come up with an answer.
Great win against a very good Tech team. An early season test that shows us this team may be good.
I saw toppin make a bunch of left handed shots too. Dude was impressive making lefty hooks over Z

For some who is "Not the board police" , you sure have an interesting way of showing it.

There have been a couple, maybe three, references to this, but it looks as if Crocker may be the much-needed addition to the staff. If he was responsible for the defense and adjustments, especially the one that put KB on Toppin, then I think he has already earned his year’s salary.
