Sorry, but I am going to push back on this whenever I see it. No one, absolutely no one said AS was unplayable. The original poster asked the question, “Playable?”. He or she never said AS was unplayable. The implication may have been there, but the poster never said it. And no one else did either. This is starting to become an urban myth. I expect it to show up on Snopes soon.

People also said Keaton wouldn't live up to the hype based on single game viewing (Illinois St)

I don't think folks mean any harm here, its just funny

Seems to prove my point. I am guessing that the poster is referring to his injury, which is still making him suspect for the game against TT. Which, to me at least, seems like a legitimate concern.

I had said if he didn't work out the rust in four days, I wasn't sure he was playable. I didn't think it was an unreasonable comment, but some people took that to mean I was calling him permanently unplayable.

Sorry for the double post. I thought I was editing the post but something went wrong.

What’s the opposite of debunked? Bunked? Because I just did that.

Edit: I see Narrow J beat me to the bunking.

Not sure what you mean. I think this just proves my point. His comment was concerning that he needs to get the rust off. And if he can’t, is he playable for the TT game? Maybe I am misreading what others have posted, but those comments seem to be that the poster said he was unplayable for the whole season. That he won’t play at all. Or just play off the bench for limited minutes. But if you read the posts, they are saying that the poster said he was unplayable. But that is not what the poster said. He speculated that he might be unplayable. Big difference.

Petro 10-12 minutes on Friday would be GREAT. Can't wait to see the bursts of speed in transition from that kid
I agree with you. Shortly after, I expect him to start at the #1. I think that will free Kylan up in so many ways. Wagler still deserves major minutes off the bench, and I expect he'll get them. This team (when Tomi comes back) will have incredible depth. For BU, that's the classic double-edge sword.

As long as Petro isnt a liability defensively... Wagler has looked great, sometimes you forget he is even a freshman just based off his composure and ability. Doesnt shy away from contact. But if he does shift to the bench... his roll hardly changes and he can still get his 20-25 mins/gm. The only real question that'll have to be addressed quickly will be Petro's size and his ability to guard at the level Wagler has guarded. Petro could take this offense to the next level (best off. in America) if can guard his opposition. I know the flame has wavered on Petro a tad, mainly due to injuries and Wagler being red hot, but i"ve watched Petro play a ton... the kid is ELECTRIC offensively. With that being said... he's never had to really guard, let alone guard a 6'4-6'6 P5 guard. Time will tell. And Wagler has done more than hold his own of the def. end thus far.

BUT, if Wagler has been added to the bench as the sixth man and Petro is your starting PG... that means one thing... WOW this team is GOOD GOOD.

At the risk of staring another discussion about “context,” you seem to have taken everyone else’s comments out of such. The original poster was clear. He literally said he didn’t think AS was playable and caught significant grief for it. No one thought (or said, anyway) he meant for the entire year. The OP literally said “I’m not sure he’s playable against Texas Tech” and the responses were directed as such.

Hard to call actual words an “urban legend.”

Really starting to wonder if this is a secret grammar subreddit..

Whether it was just for that game (in which dude scored almost a pt a minute) or more general it's a board meme at this point, not a super serious thing that requires debating.

I do think the offense looked prettier, albeit against worse competition, with Tomi in and AS out. But that actually is most likely rust & attributable to Tech's D.

That lull the Illinois offense had from around the 16 min timeout to around the 12 min timeout when Texas Tech went on the run to close the 10ish point gap and take the lead could have really used a better lead guard to get the offense out of a funk. It was a lot of missed jump shots from Mirk, Wagler, and Kylan where they were trying to do a little too much 1 on 1 (then the offense took off when Stojakavic just did the same thing but couldn't miss).

As to who starts, don't think it really matters. He'll get 20-25+ minutes whenever rolls shake out most likely. Davis will shift back spot minutes, Humrichous will probably see his minutes go down a little (depending on matchups), Boswell can't play 38 minutes a game, Wagler doesn't need 35, etc.
I think this is pretty much the case. Is it possible that BU is ahead of the curve not only on the euro idea, but also “platoon/situation” player usage?

The NBA sort of does this matchups ect, but more importantly it requires more than the old standard of 7/8 man rotations? We will see, but I sort of see how Z was used (lots of 1st half, not so much in the second) to be the way of the future?

As a side note, I have been told by someone that would 100% know that and I quote: “he is a pro” - I had asked how good petro is? So who knows, but I would say BU is playing chess and others hacky sac?
