History was made tonight......................

Spoon did it 53 years ago......................
Mirko-Man did it tonight...................

what was it they did ?..........they both had a 20/20 game of at least 20 pts and 20 rebs........Mirko-Man had 27 pts and 21 rebs...

It was a lunch pail workman's like performance with the Illini never reaching 40 % FG shooting level.........it was a kind of ho-hum game with colgate hanging around for awhile , but we turned it on when we needed to and maintained a 11-15 pt lead for the majority of the second half......

Wags is one smooth hombre getting either 19 or 20 pts with a bushel basket of rebs especially offensive rebs......

BU just said Z had some swelling in one of his knees but nothing to worry about......... I think it was a understandable trappish type game playing against a slower paced team offensively playing a zone D against us and our first time seeing extended zone play.......

hey pru.....slow paced and we shot like sh!t but won by 19 points....how about Mirko-Man ??....he was awesome....call you later..

With all the injuries we really only had 7 rotation players available. They all played. Z apparently sore, so he played less.

Who exactly were you expecting to see?

There's still a lot to be said about doing it in a P4/Big Ten setting.

Dain Dainja was an all american against cupcakes. So was Adam Miller as a freshman. Sure none of them put up those stats - and Mirk likely ends up a better player than those guys - but a lot is TBD against high major competition. He did not look great against Tech.

We've played a lot of cupcakes over the years. No 20/20 games. Lets also not ignore 3 assists which is no mean feat for a big guy. The commentators were rough as expected for a B1G+ game but they said it best. He had 11 and 4 against TT and that was him not playing well. Anything is possible for this kid.

In the post game, BU said his challenge was to get through a full practice and being ready to go the next day. He has not done that yet so they were playing it safe. Hopefully he can do that on Wed....but no predictions being made. He did a couple of wow plays in practice on Thur. but was not pain free tonight.

He could have played tonight, but correct, was probably 90-95%, a couple more practices should help a ton.

There's a bit of a curse that goes with being a freshman that ends up on NBA draft lists. It's heady stuff and often leads to erratic play.

As mentioned just above, the vibes/chemistry for this team looks very strong. Hopefully when our guys return it stays that way.
