I mean, I guess I should feel fortunate we are up 8 because the stats are dead even and we drew the worst officiating and replay crew in the business. But the effort we have seen that half after a full two weeks to heal and prepare for this game does not inspire confidence for these final three games. BB has to shake some things up to re-establish some momentum. The play we saw that half is the reason sell outs are so rare even these past couple years.

Like someone said in the pre - game thread, "the seventh win will be so fun." Let's hope it's today, but the play and coaching in all phases will have to get much better for that to happen.

Nope. Both announcers were surprised and they brought in their rules expert who said it should have been ruled a catch.
The rules expert immediately followed with "But since they ruled that he went to the ground in the process of the catch, then he had to maintain control through the ground, which he did not."

The issue was the decision whether he had the catch under control before going to ground, not whether he kept control to the ground (which he did not).

The Big Ten has to adopt the ACC’s policy of allowing public listening of replay discussions. The lack of transparency only advances the ideas mentioned in this thread.

I’d also love to see an accountability for missed replay reviews the week after games. Something like what MLS does with their “Inside Review” the week after games.

Luke is drinkin' his beet juice, and eating spinach out of a can at halftime. Just looking to erase a first half of lost opportunities to bury these Turts. Also, for as much as I was critical of our defense, they got better as the half progressed.

Agree.

But the explanation was that he didn’t complete the catch out of bounds when the ball went between his legs.
Clement secured the ball and made a football play by starting to turn upfield.

Good run by Valentine, still somehow ran into his blocker near the end of the run.

Thanks for being reasonable. This ref blaming is insane. We’ve stunk up the place!
So far I do not recall a single post blaming refs for our overall performance. What I do see is fans calling out some egregious calls. I understand there is a contingent on here who don't like anyone disagreeing with a call no matter how terrible it is, so much so that they bend over backwards trying to say why the call is correct even when it very much isn't. That said we should all agree to disagree because as much as the ref defenders hate fans bashing refs, there is as much dislike for people defending terrible calls

A bit odd they're going with heavy Valentine after Feagin looked so good at the end of the 1st half.

Can someone explain briefly what the green boxes are on Altmeyer and a couple of other guys helmet stripes in the back?

Two things can be true at once.

Illinois hasn’t played well, but the officiating is brutal and has hurt Illinois as well.

The ref bashing is indeed insane. But you can set your watch to it, on this board.
