You want him to take KB, Andrej or Keaton's minutes?
Brad's going to have to figure it out. If there weren't enough minutes to go around, it's a waste of money.

For the record, if I had to chose one of the three, it'd be Keaton. He's a freshman and is struggling against these better teams. He looks confused at times and tries to do too much.

We have to have another player, besides Boswell, who can control the pace and control the game. Andrej had a nice stretch to keep us in it, but his turnovers and missed free throws were crushing late in the game. He's not a guy you're going to give the ball to facilitate offense and pace.

Without KB on the floor, things don't run right. They actually don't run at all. I'm not going to put the ball in a freshman's hand to settle things down.

If Petrovic is everything that some of this board says he is with running the point, it's critical he gets the time.

Is it though? Our percentage for the season is right in the middle of those two numbers, so they just seem like equal outliers to me
I’d much rather have 76% every game than 95% one game, 70% another game, and 60% in another game.

I get someone can make statistics say whatever they want to say, but I’ll still say out FT shooting is an issue because of three games of mediocre at best FT shooting.

I would absolutely love that too, but I think the reality is it will ebb and flow.

UConn lost at home last night, they shot 9-18 from the line (seems to happen to the best of teams).

I made the point earlier that if we shot 75% that only gives us 3 more points. But, if we rebound better, play better defense, play harder with more effort- I feel like those things make a far bigger difference than 3 points.

All JMO, I understand the want for more consistency.

I think there are probably certain teams/matchups against teams that don't play a traditional 4 that you could legitimately play Petrovic, Boswell, Wagler and Stojakovic at the same time.

Stojakovic isn't really much smaller than a guy like Karaban and he doesn't really rebound at that much worse of a clip either.

Super intrigued to see how Petro gets worked in. 5 assists in 12 minutes tonight, and he looked like he could get into the lane at will.
Can be a nice change up if we get stagnant to spam the pick n roll with him. Given the spot and moment, I'm not sure I could be any more pleased than he gave tonight.
Petro is great passer. Defense was not terrible. I would like to have a small ball unit that could come in for 3-5 minutes, press full court and run run run

PG - Petro
SG - Boz
SF - Davis
PF - Rodgers
C - Hummer

It's too early to say that some of the guys are having trouble shooting FTs in pressure games. It isn't too early to say that it's trending that direction.
The shooting coach needs to teach them how to shoot when under pressure.
Who is the shooting coach?

No need to bash Ben, or lob praise. He is who he is and he’s doing fine in a…..6th or 7th man role.

To me he should be #7/8 with Z. Let those 2 figure out which one gets more minutes. Matchup dependent of course. If Z doesn’t pick it up soon it’s gonna be Hum btw.

There is an important thing to remember with college ball- missing your free throws when you're in the one-and-one means missing the first removes the opportunity for a second, so there's more potential points lost than just the straight free throw misses.

Ayo was awesome in win last night. He was -11 in 23 minutes. That analytic is trash.

Keaton was fouled often and multiple times in single instances. What concernsme. We hit front of rim coming out of half time repeatedly and got man card taken. Punked.

My question with Petro is can he defend. He was not great at it yesterday.

Honestly think he has significantly improved and I think a lot of it relates to Fletch. He's just stronger and moves better.

Today on KenPom Illini are #7, Purdue #4, Michigan #14, Wisconsin #15, Bama #18. Our defense is rated 96.6.

According to official stats, Petrovic had 5 assists and 1 turnover. Your comments about him are way off.

He's not the most physically imposing guy in the world. He can definitely get bullied and will be a target defensively when he gets into the game. The issue is that after Boswell, he's the most savvy and reliable ball handler that we have. We have no depth at the PG position. This was another issue we knew we had before the season started.

Then we’re just concentrating on an exponentionally more meaningless sample size. An otherwise good FT shooter misses one free throw in a vacuum and we think it means we suck at free throws? We don’t.

UConn shot 9/18 at the line and lost a home game the very same night. It happens to all good teams. You just can’t also not play well overall (which is really why we lost the game, not because we missed the front end of a one and one). Oh, and we were playing a top 10 team, which is also a valid reason to sometimes not just walk away with a win.

Free throws were one of the reasons why we why lost but not the only reason why we lost, and I think it’s pretty indisputable that the lost possessions (rebounding and defense) harm you more than missing the front end of a one and one.

Edit: I honestly kind of secretly hope you keep this narrative going throughout the season as the team continues to shoot near 80% from the free throw line. Purely for entertainment, of course. Lol
