Why don’t I like these as much as the FIGHTING ILLINI orange jerseys?
If they replace our regulars, I’m happy. If they’re replacing the FIGHTING ILLINI alternates, not so much.
I agree for the most part. But this is still a giant step in the right direction and shows leadership isn't just asleep at the wheel.

I agree with you, these aren’t the best looking, where I’d probably put them behind 1989 and hypothetical 2005 orange throwbacks. But I’m certainly happy to lean more into the past than using our stale 2018 set.
As much as I want to celebrate FINALLY getting a new jersey, all things lead to this new orange script jersey to replace our orange flying illini jerseys. The 1LL1NO1S have already been worn and featured in our team photo. The orange flying illini jerseys have been nowhere to be found so far. In my opinion, the new scripts are a downgrade and another mistake made by this program regarding jerseys.
This still leaves the door open for the Fighting Illini jerseys to become our defaults in all three colors with the scripts being our alts. This is my ideal scenario.

Uhhh no. These are sick lol. I get wanting the flying Illini jerseys more, but these are a fresh take on an old Illini uniform and they are spectacular.

Hot take: The script doesn't work with the orange jersey and blue font. I think it looks Auburn like in that way. If our rotation was the white script we have, orange flying illini, navy jersey with white script it would be perfect.
However, obviously it's better than our current orange and I like it is a legitimate uniform from our past and not a faux script like many other teams.

I like that we announced these before LIU, where I would have expected to wear the 1LL jerseys; instead of before a marquee game. Hoping this hints at a slow distancing from the 1LL's.
