When are we saying he got hurt? Ohio State? I actually thought he had a better second half of the season.

We got him for a full healthy year. He's not a RB1, but he is a solid RB2. I think Valentine's a potential #1, and like I said his dropoff could be attributed to that injury (which looked very gruesome, but was able to get back and not miss any time).
I was referring to the very first time he was hurt in his career at Illinois. He hasn't been quite the same since then.

B1G Road Games

Last year the Big Ten released the 2025 schedule on December 11th, 2024.

You can lock in one win right now besides Ohio State and Oregon, which game are you picking?

We need to win conference home games. Of course, I always want a victory over teams like Iowa and Nebraska at home, but for me in conference, we need to continue to lock down the games we should win...i.e. Purdue. So that is my must win lock game.

I just don’t get Feagin. Being as big as he is, he just goes down too easily. Is it a balance issue or a worry about injuries?

I think the issue with Feagin is he runs too up right and he doesn’t have quick feet to juke and hit a hole or make anyone miss. I think he’s simply too big for RB. The staff should have sat him down like they did with Isaiah Williams and told him the best way he can make the NFL was a position change. Probably too late for that

I advise caution. Running backs take a beating. Unusual for a freshman to be physically ready for the pounding. Pushing him in early may result in a career deteriorating or ending injury.

I agree I've seen running backs much shorter and 30lbs lighter run with a lot more power than him.

Iowa. I think they are going to be similar to us again next year. They proved that with a good qb and a functional offense, they can play with anyone.
They had Oregon until they didnt this year and were tied with IU with 2 minutes left and a slant route killed them.

I'd agree with most that if you can lock in the Iowa game as a win, you do it. Probably will be our toughest game on paper outside OSU and Oregon, it's a home game, we will likely be an underdog, and it's well, Iowa.

I could field an argument to lock in one of the road games. Something like @UCLA. West coast game on the road ain't easy. That said, it's still winning vIowa for me.

Anyone have any idea on the holdup for the release of the 2026 schedule? Only asking because the 2025 schedule was released 12/11 of last year.

He takes time to build up speed and momentum. They should use him like Rashard Mendenhall - pitch it to him and let him get to corner or run I formation with QB under the center.

He is perfect complement to RPO QB like Juice Williams.

Barry Lunney this one is on you.

We really missed McCray. Does not Feagin speed but hit holes hard and powered thru contact.

Bret told him and his mom when they recruited him he was going to be running back so quit bringing up this bull!!!! of changing positions

Okay? I do not think it's that unreasonable.

In 2024, we averaged 132 YPG between our four backs Feagin/Valentine/McCray/Laughery (with Feagin only playing 5 games).

This year that number is down to 113 YPG between our three guys.

125 is not that high a bar for next season. The run game needs to be more efficient.
I'm kinda shocked our rushing nbrs are so low. I dont follow these stats but I woulda guessed a good running team would have one 1,000 yd back, one at 800 or so, and another at maybe 400. And thats not even 200 per game, which doesnt seem like that much.

our line was below B1G average
Yeah it sure looked that way to me, but then how do we average halfway decent yards before contact? Maybe we had six 40 yd runs around end, untouched, before getting bumped out? That kinda thing could skew the yds-before-contact stats and make them misleading.

I think there were only like 4 major conf teams to average 200? Been a few days since I perused team stats, so could be off by one or two

My hope is the Big Ten realized it was not a good idea to release their schedule the week after the B1G championship game and the playoff announcements when no one is thinking about next year's schedule.

They should announce the schedule at the end of March. Combine and NFL draft already is putting strong focus on college at that time. Would be before NBA playoffs and you can time it a week or two before start of MLB season when that news cycle is quiet. Would also let the B1G officials see the finalized rosters of each team to know which games to hype up.

We—meaning especially my wife—likes to lock in hotel and other plans for the fall. Waiting that long would make her crazy.
