i compare it to the hatred toward Joe Buck by everybody except the cardinal fans. (i know, i'm ready for this fall out!) he really says nothing
against teams but is hated anyway. (even by cardinal fans)

i can explain it. Ben came into he program with an expectation that he was 6-10 and could shoot threes. the expectation was somewhat false and until this year, last year he really couldn't do anything else. The coaching staff helped him realize that there were other ways he could help the team, energy, defending key match ups, rebounding, diving after loose balls, being a on court leader have become his way to earn playing time. he will be appreciated as this play continues. every once in a while he'll make a three too.

He's only 6-9... anyhow, many folks for some reason expected the 40% conversion rate to translate from the Missouri Valley Conference to the B1G (I honestly really didn't) and that isn't his fault... blame yourself, I guess 😁

He doesn't deserve the ignorant HuMbRiCkHoUsE moniker and people should appreciate him more (just my opinion, if you want to defend the what is honestly over-the-top criticism then go ahead, I just think its ridiculous, personally... always have)

I dunno, I had to mute the TV about midway through the first half as the announcers seemed to be Tennessee boosters . . .

Yeah, but Brandon Lee played against UCONN. UCONN>Tennessee

BL was also getting a lot of praise from BU for toughness and defense. Thought he would have seen a few minutes at least if not hurt or in dog house?
He played against Uconn because Brad was looking for anyone to have some bite defensively.....Not needed this game. Like the person said sometimes the 10th man just doesn't get in. No injury or doghouse.

Any insight into the Petro situation? Seems fairly simple to me. Fierce competitor wants to play more but is coming off injury and taking more time to acclimate than he (or fans) want. Any more to it?

He is avg 12 minutes a game since he came back, he has to finish better at the rim(shooting 35% from 2). Think he was frustrated by the lack of foul calls on him Saturday as well. But he isn't going to get a ton more run imo unless Bam or Keaton are in foul trouble.

IMO, we haven't actually played a neutral site game yet. Chicago (for us). NYC (For UConn) and Nashville (for Tenn.) were all de facto home games. Mizzou, on the other hand, is a "true" Neutral site game. Half the arena is always decked out in orange. Against Tennessee, the Ivisic brothers posted up low, and the Vols played behind them, without doubling them. And they paid a price with that lazy defense approach; both brothers backed their man down (taking their time) and got easy baby hooks or layups. And they were, of course, knocking down triples. If they continue to play like that, we're going to be extremely good. I love our two freshman starters; how can you not?

I am a bit late to the party. Spent most of yesterday digging me and my house out of the latest snow storm (30 inches in the last two weeks. I am ready for spring). Anyway, here is my contribution to the “to smash or not to smash a guitar” debate (although it seemed like this was more prevalent in the earlier posts).

Petrovic not finishing after showing he can blow by defenders has hurt him, I'd guess. Still hope he gets opportunities because I think he can be good. Needs to run 2-man a little better as well, maybe? Hell I don't know I'm not smart

I fully expected an adjustment period for Petrovic. He is going to figure out how to use his speed, and his assist numbers can be off the charts once guys start anticipating some of the great passes he is able to make. But he has to finish better around the rim, and I think he will. Thank God for Wagler being one of those special guys that just get it from the get go. I feel pretty comfortable with our back court options at the moment.

While a stumble may be likely, this team is fully capable of being 17-2 heading into Purdue game.
We're the better team than everyone in between, no doubt - but we never get passed the mid January stretch without one of those weird losses. @Iowa and @OSU aren't easy games, probably same for @NW or Maryland considering history. I'll stand by what I said the season preview thread: if we have 4 losses by Feb 1st (which will include the Purdue game), I'd consider it a VERY successful first part to the season.

Wouldn’t read too much into it. Against UConn, both Wagler and Petrovic were not playing good so Brad was able to put him in for significant minutes.

Against Tennessee, Wagler and Boswell had to be on the floor as often as possible. They were that good. Just not an opportunity for Lee to get on the floor. Happens when you’re the 4th guard option.

Fun game to watch. I have no idea how good Tennessee is but it's a nice win.

Observations:
1. Nate Ament is very highly overrated. I don't get the NBA love.
2. Boswell is so crafty around the rim. Reminds me a little of Franky Williams in that regard. Slow and smooth.
3. Mihailo looked like a player again against good competition
4. Tomi is a mismatch
5. Zvonimir can hit some really big shots and has so much energy
6. Brad has a soft side. He exploded when Andrej missed the dunk but then loved on him like a dad. Sweet moment.
7. Keaton was a steal as a recruit

Then immediately screamed at Bam to make a F'in free throw lol

Ament has been dealing with injuries that are considered minor enough to let him play but major enough that he's missed practices. It's very hard to judge a recovering freshman's potential.
