I'm going with we expose Nebraska for the mediocre team that they are (haven't played any GOOD teams), with a comfortable 15 point win. I think I'll have a corn dish with my Saturday lunch :ROFLMAO:
Deep fried corn fritters!

Have I mentioned how much I hate the Peacock phenomenon?

Kenpom today shows Illini up to #9, with Purdue at 6, and Michigan at 1. Mich State at 12, Indiana at 21, Wisconsin at 26 and Iowa at 27. Nebraska is at #42, no doubt due to SOS. I might suggest that Illinois is a tiny bit overrated, and MSU a tiny bit underrated; I saw them play Duke and they are athletic and physical, with a suffocating defense. So is Duke.

This years Duke team is good but nothing like last year. At least yet.

So who is going to be the first team to knock off Scum? I am still fantasizing that this is all a dream and that Howard is still calling the shots. Starting fights and getting pummeled in league play.

I trust that no one on the team has a birthday on Friday.

Peacock is $8/month so may be worth adding as there is multiple games left. If you know a kid in college they can get it for you for $2/month which is what I am currently doing.

I would say go for it and watch Pokerface. Columbo for the modern age.
I’ll also add Day of the Jackal if you’re a new Peacock customer. Intense series. Eddie Redmayne is the titular character and is phenomenal in the role.

I said before the season that I felt like Nebraska could be a sneaky good tournament team. Now that they have a number next to their name, I don't think they're going to sneak up on us.

I like to filter the data to look at the last two weeks. Small sample size of course, but I find value in it. Especially this time of year as teams jell and because some of those early buy games can skew the numbers.

So, over the last two weeks:
Illinois: 2-1 | 27th in Torvik | adjO 20 adjD 62
Nebraska: 2-0 | 37th in Torvik | adjO 218 adjD 10

Seems like three point shooting will be important:
We are 49th in three point rate over the last two weeks and Nebraska is 41st.
Nebraska is also 359th in three point rate defense, meaning they're letting teams take more threes than almost any team in the country.

Surprising stat over the last two weeks:
We are 183 and 311 in offensive and defensive rebounding rates respectively.
Nebraska is 278 and 20.

It bears mentioning that Nebraska's opponents over that stretch have been #289 Cal Upstate (9 point win) and #55 Creighton (21 point win), so I'll be interested to see how they do tonight vs a Wisconsin team that's a slight step up from Creighton.

Ok, all that out of the way, we can't lose this game. It's Q1 right now but, as much as I respect this Nebraska team, I doubt it stays Q1. It's at home. We're the better team. No sleepy December afternoon shenanigans. Just win.

Guys like Mast have historically given us trouble… they can back down, and back down, and back down more and our bigs have been skinnier.

My hope is with Crocker, we just dig down more in a game like this… and I think we have in games thus far

Man, how bad is Petro? Good thing we have Wagler and don’t have to rely on him, or we’d be in trouble. He can’t guard a cone and turns the ball over almost every time he has it. I’m guessing he’ll be heading back to Europe after this season.
