Ok, but they'd essentially be guaranteed a berth every year in in that scenario.

There's a reason why they're able to negotiate their way into a top 12 guarantee no one else has...

yea
no one else is independent & has a contract with NBC. but if ND gets shut out from scheduling ACC or B1G teams , they are effed .

it’s only because 3-4 B1G teams and the ACC , that they have any power as an Independent

Alright it’s getting kinda dark now. Prevailing rumor is the Sherrone broke into an assistants house and was threatening to commit suicide. Hope on a personal level he can get the help he needs.
The specifics might still be unknown, but what is known is that the police have detained him. It’s not just a consensual affair. It’s a potential criminal matter.

This is like saying Ohio St is only relevant because they have a big stadium in Columbus with a lot of fans.

I have zero sympathy for Moore, the guy had more than most can ever dream of and threw it all away. I do horribly for his wife, what a mess he’s created.
I remember him last year after the Ohio St game. He was waving to the crowd like a little kid instead of acting like an adult. Maybe why his players acted the way they did.

"While Manuel cannot control the alleged behaviors of Moore, or the refusal of Jim Harbaugh to cooperate with the NCAA, or Connor Stalions massively complex cheating ring, or the need to conduct an investigation into alleged computer crimes as the school's firing former offensive coordinator Matt Weiss, these all are just recent examples of football scandals unfolding at Michigan in an athletics department under Manuel's purview."

The textbook definition of lack of institutional control, if that was still a thing.

Don't forget starting fights with multiple Big Ten teams in the tunnel of their football stadium or their Head BB coach punching/slapping another Big Ten coach resulting in his suspension for the rest of the regular season
