The issue with this team is that it’s just not a well-constructed team. And what well-coached teams are doing is taking advantage of our major weakness by hunting mismatches with our slower big guys which puts so much pressure on the rest of the defense. That’s something we’re gong to see all year and I think that makes us a very good team but not in the upper echelon of teams.

How many minutes did mirk sit in favor of Jake and Ben 2nd half? 15? It seemed like Mirk hardly played in the second half.

Some fan base. Pissin and moaning how horrible we played. Complaining about Brad. Nebraska is for real. A good game between two good teams . They shot well. They had an answer every time we got close . We fought back came up just short. Big ten is gonna be fun to watch this year., Tourney should be awesome. Appreciate what we have.
I just can't appreciate losing games we have no business losing. Maybe that is just a flaw I have

Are you serious? Nebraska shot 8 FTs all game. Illinois shot 20
Yes Sir, those two calls were atrocious in a close game! The free throw disparity has nothing to do with those two amazing calls on the road. Illinois was not fouling, the Huskers were simply driving by us for easy layups. When you get easy layups and open threes you don't need to get fouled.

Longtime lurker here, figure this is a fine time to make my first post
This was a truly fun basketball game to watch. I believe both teams are top 15 as of now. The season is far from over after that loss. Nebraska’s offense was fantastic and that last shot…they earned it tonight.
Some takeaways:
Need to come out with fire to open first/second halves.
Need to take the hot shooter out of the game before the second half.
Did finish both halves with fire, good to see.
I think Andrej was the team’s leading rebounder today, love to see it.
Tomi is not 100% yet, he’ll get better as the season goes on
The soft tech on Z really killed the momentum, we never recovered from that
This team is going to win a ton of games this year, losses like this happen. Just have to make it the only such loss. I think it stays quad 1.

They shouldn’t have been a double digit underdog. That was only because casual fans don’t give Nebraska much credit.

Brad said in the postgame he was "unplayable". One of the few Underwood takes I didn't disagree with today. Mirk needs to figure out what he can and can't do. Getting a defensive rebound and dribbling up the floor into traffic is not very smart.

First game since @Michigan State in 2024 that we shoot 30% from three, 70% from the line and still lose.

Nebraska shoots 46.2% from 3 (which is ballistic). Sometimes a team just makes every shot, and there’s only so much you could do. I know Thornton going off was frustrating, but just for comparison, OSU only shot 32% for the game. Nebby played their A++ game, we played our B game… they still needed a contested 25 foot buzzer beater.

Tomi and Ben had zero points each before their threes. They weren’t great today, but takes some big time guts to knock those down in the final minute.

I’m not tooting my own pregame horn, nor excusing their performance, but this was absolutely a classic trap game.

Now they have bamboo spikes up their buttholes.
I just don’t think you can consider a team that is about to be ranked above you a trap game. This wasn’t USC from last year. If you don’t come to play at the top for these games you got a lot more losses in your future and may just not be as good as you thought going in. Still hopeful for a second weekend if we get to work but these are games great teams win and we didn’t.

When we shoot from the perimeter we are a pretty decent team....when we don't.....

I watch a lot of College Basketball, like most of you. I watch Hoibergs offense and defense today. The movement, the cutting, the curls, the spacing, the efficiency. Where would we be with his coaching and our players? Undefeated? 1 loss? 2?

Ill take what I saw out of red every night with our players.
