You can "spin" this however you want.

When you continually have to dip into other team rosters and juco for lineman you are not sufficiently
identifying high school lineman or developing the same. This is a worse case scenario when were competing
against teams with more NIL $. We need to save our spending on skill positions, not the OL. strange that
coach B had a reputation for just this thing at Wisconsin. There seems to be a weak link here somewhere.
I’m sure our coaches and especially Coach B can recognize HS talent but our team needs to get better in order to sign that talent. Year after year we are doing just that.

i hope you are right. i'm a big fan of our coach, just stating what i fear is a trend.
i think others are pointing at a few assistants where we might use an upgrade.

Not sure if Bielema will make any coaching moves with Bart Miller, but I read on another board Memphis OL coach (and former Illini) David Diehl is on the move. May end up at Nebraska. He’s pretty new to coaching but I think would fit perfectly at Illinois

I agree that there has been a disconnect at times between OC Lunney and OL Coach Miller. But I disagree that it is Miller who is underperforming.

Lunney inexplicably strays from the gameplan on an alarmingly regular -- albeit, frustratingly random -- rate. Case in point, Illinois comes out in the second half against Northwestern and is literally ramming the ball right down the Wildcats throats on the ground. Suddenly--and without reason--Lunney stops calling run plays and starts throwing. Drive stalls just like that. That's on Lunney for not recognizing what's working!

Lunney also likes to run plays without setting them up--like running a double reverse pitch back to the QB pass that fooled nobody on the defense, because he never ran anything to set it up.

Bottom line: Lunney is skittish about the running game. He does not trust it. His instincts are to revert to the pass as fast and often as possible. This is not to say his passing scheme isn't dynamic and important to Illinois' success. But it is to say that he does not appear to follow established game plans or read the flow well on a consistent basis, especially when the gameplan or the flow of the game call for running the damn ball. He's skittish. And that's NOT on the OL coach.
Michigan alum's never have worried about their reputation. just make one excuse after another since the 1890's when
they where kicked out of the big ten for recruiting violations thru dozens of infractions, the fab five payoff, football
sign stealing (one i never really thought was a big deal, every team tries to do that) into Harbaugh's recruiting and now,
when recruiting payoffs are legal, they found a coach who thinks he's bigger than the game getting involved with a
team assistant. it's sort of funny. its also why i've rooted for the Buckeyes in that game. lesser of two evils.

Hail, Hail,,,

i hope you are right, but don't think so. offensive linemen are often developed from tall, lanky kids who are not 3or 4 stars in high school.
Track Wisconsin's past linemen who are developed and turned into stud linemen as juniors and seniors. i know kids get impatient but
that's not so much the case as a developmental player. i hope that we finally have those kids at the lower. levels and the juco kids just fill
in spots while the 18 year old's put on muscle. we just haven't done that yet. more than a few haven't panned out. Not blaming coach
B directly. Iowa and Wisconsin have done this better than us.

Word on the street is that Fisch is no longer a candidate at Michigan based on something that came up on a background check. Anyone have the scoop?

who knows but .I’ll take a guess that it may hsve involved another girt besides his wife . something not bad enough to keep him from getting or keeping his job at Udub

but michigan needs to hire a dude with no skeletons in the closet , this time around .

thst eliminates 1/2 - 2/3 the guys out there

Sources say he respects women … Definitely not a Michigan man …

In all seriousness I don’t know how much I can/can’t say on that one … It’s the same reason Florida moved on from him in their search …

I think there's a broad consensus that changing OL coaches fixes this, and I don't know how true that is but the fact that in year 6 we all agree that next year's OL starters aren't all currently on the roster is concerning and I don't think it was supposed to be like this.

What I think we can ABSOLUTELY all agree on is that something on the offense needs to change. If Lunney's scheme is not compatible with what Miller coaches, this needs to be resolved somehow.
And that agenda driven, shortsighted “consensus” would be wrong in another the eyes of a different group. Most of these folks want to hang complete blame on the defense and that’s wrong.

Fixing one side gets you, maybe, one more win, if even that.

However, ignoring the offense issue gives that win back.

Believing the offense problem is just the OL ignores the play calling and sets.

I believe you were a big fan of this guy...

Cod you be any punnier? Just for the halibut?

I apologize for what I've done.
We need to remove your funny bone. Someone clearly messed with it. I’ll call for the sturgeon….. :)
