A lot of media talk about Mizzou losing 2nd string RB Jamal Roberts since Hardy seems set on returning next year. Drinkwitz was pleading for NIL money from STL and MO businesses on the media circuit.

Just looked him up, has to be one of the best backup RBs in P4. Interesting recruiting background (was looking if Illinois offered out of HS - did not), with a lot of smaller school offers (SIU, Lindenwood, really good FCS programs), G5 programs all over the map (Air Force, Arkansas State), and then a couple big offers (first offer was from FSU and Arizona State, last offer was from Mizzou). The timing of these offers are unusual. Usually you see a cluster of offers from similar programs as the player sends out their film. His timeline doesn't really reflect that. Every month he would get 1-3 offers from schools across the country. Nothing crazy, just a little different than what I usually see.

That said, if Illinois is hellbent on completely reshaping their RB room (I don't think they are), this would be a great starting point.

By the beginning of the year, there may be over 1000 players hitting the portal if not more. With our success with portal players, we should feast.

Tennessee back at it again...

Guessing so when you search "Tennessee offers Illinois Quarterback" it'll direct you to Lompati instead of tampering with Luke 🤣

a lot of big programs will be making a run at Lompati. this is exactly the kind of thing you want see from your commits (i.e. highly coveted). that's why recruiting doesn't stop. the main thing here, from our perspective, anyway, are the strong bonds we've built and are strengthening.

I think as long as Lunney and Art are here, we're gonna be good with Lompati

You are spot on. Think the timing of offering Illinois' QB commit weeks before we play in a bowl game does it make it interesting.

I take some enjoyment in the gamemanship of it. Like does Tennessee have a pretty good feeling of how this game is going to go? Maybe feel that they can make a splash by winning big and pointing to that when they continue recruiting him?

Be interesting to see how this goes.
