An all-timer. Still remember him so many games. Some underrated moments was him bailing everyone out with a dime against Toledo, the steady hand in Lincoln, and him drawing up the TD to Pat Bryant in OT against Purdue.

Just going to quote myself from a couple of different times over the past year as there really aren't words for how amazing Luke has been for this team and University.

Luke with the, "I love this university" line... My Man.

Not to just ride your coattails, but the bolded is what came to mind first for me.

Pretty sure the initial tweet referenced his dad being an orthopedic surgeon for Miss St. And I don't know him, but when Luke talks about the football program, the University, and his experience...it just feels like this is what he wants.

Whole thing seems to have just blown up from some dude making connections between Luke and Heupel and the internet did it's thing and ran with it.

Always appreciate the input, and Happy Easter back to you (and all). 🐰 🄚

Thank you, Luke, from the bottom of our hearts, for:
-making the difficult decision to come to the cold of Illinois from the warmth of Mississippi
-having the smarts and humility to be open to listening and learning from Bret and the rest of your Illini coaches
-being a wonderful representative of Illinois as both a scholar athlete and a person
-staying loyal to Illinois and not leaving for the money to go to Tennessee or the NFL
-fighting so hard for yourself, your teammates, your coaches, your university, and your league
-playing through the pain of injuries, always showing up to give it your best shot
-developing the confidence, the determination, and the drive to never give up, especially at the end of hard fought games
-bringing Illinois Football back into National prominence and making us proud
-becoming the leader and legend that Illini Nation will never forget
We are forever grateful…

Dear Luke,
I would like to express how much I have appreciated your time at the University of Illinois. You have been more than just a talented quarterback; you have been a powerful example for other Christians to follow, and I am truly thankful for the way you represent our faith.

I am so proud of your desire to overcome adversity and the way you always keep your head held high. Your perseverance and character through both victories and challenges have made a lasting impact on this community.

Watching you honor Jesus as your Lord and Savior first and foremost while leading this team with such excellence has been an inspiration to me and many other Christians.

Congratulations on finishing your collegiate career on such a high note with the victory over Tennessee in the 2025 Music City Bowl. Thank you for everything you’ve given to the Illini.
God bless you in whatever path He leads you down next!

Leadership, Loyalty, Pro. Thank you, Luke. Best to you at the next level. Wouldn’t it be great if you have a better pro career than Jaxon Dart!
