Yes they have had a good run of some non P4 kids. But the majority of their offense in P4 transfers. And they have over three times the amount of P4/commits playing when compared non power five guys. The breakdown for Miami, Ole Miss and Oregon is way less than Indiana even.

Sarrat, black, Fischer, Ponds, Tucker and Kamara are all impact players that transferred from JMU

the only thing I can make out from the 247 page is he was committed, then decommitted, BB personally visited him after that and then he committed to IA. Any additional detail you can share?

Yeah and I counted each of those guys as part of the 8…. in the grand scheme it’s not that many when you look at the overall roster. I don’t think you can build your base on non P4 talent.

No one said you can build an entire roster with G5 players but you’re underestimating the impact of the JMU players. Ponds, Fisher and Tucker were All Americans.

And a P4 guy was the hiesman. And the number 1 back. And rose bowl MVP was a P4 lineman transfer from ND. They did very well. It’s not repeatable tho….

Which is awesome man. But the numbers don’t evidence that elite teams are building with non power 4 transfers. Ole Miss, Oregon and Miami are loaded with P4 transfers. If we wanna play in the margins (hello cubs) there are always successfully stories. But look at the recent juco commits we’ve had. Wasted scholarships

South Alabama transfer safety Ty Goodwill will take an official visit to Illinois this weekend, he tells Illini Inquirer. He will then follow with a visit to Syracuse.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound rising junior has two seasons of eligibility remaining. In 10 games during the 2025 season, Goodwill totaled 32 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, seven pass breakups and one interception this season. He earned a 77.8 PFF grade, including an 80.4 coverage grade.

Its also impossible to build an entire roster out of P4 transfers because we just dont have the resources. Just like its generally not feasible to build a roster around only 5 stars. You need to take a shot at some of the lower level guys who can develop into the scheme.

The high school equivalent of your argument is that we dont have a high hit rate on 3 star players so we should stop recruiting them and only get 4 stars.
