No because he could run the offense, played great defense (Andrej is working on this) and his 3-pt shooting drop was half as bad as Andrej's between seasons.

He wasn’t brought to Illinois to be the point guard though. And he was a bad shooter here. Ty was supposed to be the point guard and Marcus an offball scorer. So by that logic bringing in a point guard who couldn’t shoot wouldn’t work because we had Ty already.

Keaton wasn’t brought here to be the day 1 starting point guard star, but then we started playing real games. How about this. Idk what pitch underwood had to Andrej (I doubt it was to be a standstill corner shooter) but I just like having good players and offensively Brad pretty much always makes it work.

And while I love Marcus (actually love, that dude rocks) “great defense” is a wild thing to say haha.

I don't know what the original plan was for Domask but I can bet he wasn't getting paid as much as Andrej. We ended up getting way more from Domask than expected and in my opinion we're getting less from Andrej than expected.

I don't know why my wanting him to be able to shoot the 3 competently means I want him to be a corner shooter. I'd also like him to be able to handle the ball across the floor and pass when needed but those aren't corner shooter traits.

Hes shooting 52% from the floor - I want him shooting it.

Yet we’re over here saying Dix is having a good season stat wise shooting 41% from the field.

Brad could just say "Tomi needs to play better"

Instead of making excuse after excuse for him. With the money Tomi's making, take off the kid gloves. He's a 22 year old man. Use that same energy you've used with Mirk
You don't mouth off to Tomi! Did you see what he did to that guitar? That's what he does when he is happy. Don't make him angry.

Dix is attempting twice as many 3's, of course his percentage is lower.

Evanmiya:
Andrej Stojakovic OBPR: 2.59 DPBR: 1.02 Total BPR: 3.61

Josh Dix OBPR: 3.77 DBPR: 1.54 Total BPR: 5.31

I’m just confused where the belief Andrej was gonna come in and chuck a bunch of threes is coming from. Fans mad we’re shooting too many threes, now upset Andrej isn’t shooting enough of them - it can be a tough crowd.

41% is bad man. 52% good. Andrej if you’re reading this board, first off, don’t. But secondly, keep shooting it’s efficient haha.

I want to preface this by saying I had not considered issues with Tomi ... other than being super impressed by Z and noticing Tomi was a bit off so far this year, I had no idea his stats were that bad
and yet opponents feel the need to double Tomi, gives us a 4 on 3 for our other players

Feels like Tomi did a much better job finding people out of those doubles last year. Kinda been sloppy with the ball more often. Need Andrej to start cutting baseline like Riley did last year to get Tomi some easy assists.
Tomi can play better that's for sure, but our guards are not helping him out much like you said.

Maybe it's because he attempted 4.4 a game last season. Maybe it's the pedigree.

He doesn't need you to tell him shooting 2's when it's the only shot he can make.

Yes now you’re getting it. He shot 4.4 per game last season and 32% of them went in.

So “shooting 2s because it’s the only shot he can make” sounds about as dumb as a screen door on a submarine now doesn’t it?

He played on a bad Cal and Stanford team. I thought Brad was pretty upfront all offseason that it was gonna be a transition and totally different system - ofcourse he wasn’t gonna shoot as much. And that was before we knew what a stud Wagler was.

I, for one, appreciate a kid who’s doing his best to fit in. Is probably our best perimeter defender, and gives us some juice in transition we desperately need. And whose gone to the podium multiple times saying how thankful he is to be contributing to winning - no whining he can’t shoot as many shots anymore.

Want that dude on my team 10/10 times.

He’s prob still worried about our FT shooting
Our free throw percentage has improved since the Alabama game. It's almost as if I was pointing it out as something they should work on and they did. I think that's called coaching. It's something you do instead of blowing smoke up the players' asses.

LOL they were shooting .790 at the time

Now? .793
Pretty sure it was lower than that at the time, I wanna say around 76%. And if it's 79.3% now, then we must be shooting them somewhere in the 80s since the Alabama game.

If you can't find one thing to critique after a loss, you're blowing smoke up the players' asses.

83-105 for 79 percent as of the Alabama game.

The percentages are completely irrelevant though. His point was that someone hammered on a subject that turned out to be a complete non-issue, that’s all. It happens, not a big deal.

Boswell shot 38% on 3's at Arizona for two years and 29% at Illinois last year. Stoyachovic has shot 10% less than he did last year in 14 games this year on 39 shots. Get off his back, he has been and will continue to be very important to this team.
