It's like I knew this was a bullet we might bite because the one player J Cambridge is really in the league the most unstoppable player B1G has.You have Betts in UCLA ,but you may be able to double teams and scheme her better but Cambridge has to have a superior one on one coverage with some switch to good doses of physical presence.....Like every game this year we had a chance but this team because it is so young will be given pain to learn perseverance.... But not a whole lot of pain because they learn fast..
Thanks. Does anyone think Dolan is in a slump? Loving her energy but we need more offense from her. Also, Benson definitely needs more minutes!

After reading this post, I wonder why we never go zone, especially when we have a matchup we cannot defend man-to-man. Last night, vs. Jaloni and VanSlooten at MSU, are good examples. In my opinion, the only lockdown defender on the entire team is Destiny, maybe Jasmine. Other players are solid but hardly game changers. Playing some zone would change the pace of the game when needed, protect players who are in foul trouble, and, in my opinion, we are not nearly as deep as we sometimes think. It seems natural to me, as our man-to-man is not overly aggressive in the passing lanes and uses a lot of zone principles. Just my 2 cents.
Does anyone know why Jackson only played 20 minutes?

Is it cause or effect?

Gretchen has had 4 terrible games.

OSU 2-12 78-69 normal Gretchen it much closer
MSU 4-16 down by 2 with 10 sec. Normal Gretchen we win.
WKY 1-10 we won by 20. Did not matter
Oregon S 4-19 64-59. normal Gretchen we win.

Question is did OSU MSU and OS do something different to make her shoot worse so we lost or is it just normal good game bad game effect?

Certainly OSU and MSU play better than average defense. However so does MD when she was 7-15.

It seems to me her shot selection is pretty good and alot of her shots just barely miss. Maybe she is being sped up just enough to throw her off although I dont really see that. We absolutely need her scoring punch. I think she needs to keep shooting and get some confidence back. I think Shauna thinks the same.

She only had three and didn't get that third one until 5:31 remaining in the game.
I think she got a little banged up. A couple times during the game she looked to be in some pain.

Destiny always getting blindsided by picks. Team has to do better job of calling them out. She is definitely being targeted because she is causing havoc on defense with her steals. We need to use Haven as enforcer. Somebody flattens Destiny and Haven comes in to rough them up.

She is as important as Keaton is to men's team. She breaks the press, is a one woman fast break, harasses the other team PG, and is good for 2 steals for games.
I would love to see her plus minus for OSU game

Against the Terps, Jackson still co-led the team in assists with three, despite playing only 23 minutes. In those 23 minutes, Jackson had the best plus/minus for Illinois at +12.

OSU limiting her to 20 minutes is probably just as big a factor in loss as Dolan's bad shooting. Aalyuh is our 2nd best ball handler but right now she is nowhere as effective as Destiny.

Yes, the numbers say that she is in a slump but Green must have confidence in her based on her minutes. The tough part of being a scorer is that people expect it every night. I have noticed that when she misses a couple and then gets a good look, she has a tendency to get tentative and pass it out. She does some things that some don’t always notice. Her Assist/Turnover ratio is 1.92 second only to Destiny who is at 2.52, and often receives the first pass in the press break to make the critical first pass. I think she just needs to see some go in early in the game to get her confidence back. We all hope that happens soon.

That’s what I saw.

Plus, those two point shots off the curl are some of the toughest to make. Then mix those in with contact at the rim and set 3 point attempts and you see the challenge.

I think she’ll figure it out too. Maybe use the backboard more.

Regarding the curl shots, really makes you root for her as a fan as you see how much determination it takes on her part to get those off . I love the team but Gretchen is definitely my favorite.

Gretchen can create her own mid range shot and is dead-eye from mid range.

She likes to drive under basket and do reverse layup is vulnerable if the other team has shot blockers.

She is 5'11", good ball handler but not overly athletic or strong. Berry can go over or thru defenders. Gretchen can be grabbed, bumped and muscled.

She is a scorer so if she touches the ball she is going off a pick for mid range jumper. She will shoot you to the win or keep shooting and missing till you lose. Reminds me of Andy Kaufman.

Having two strong scorers - Berry and Gretchen is a strength for the team. Cearah can score, likes the 3 and under the basket but does not hunt shots like the other two.

Merkle is a load for Penn St. There is no stopping her if she gets the ball down low (shooting 75%). However, she only shoots 59% on free throws. Cece's only hope is to try to front her. Lety should maul her early before she gets the ball.

Yes be real nice if Cece can stay out of foul trouble, just play Merkle tough. Let Lety and Haven do any banging around, trade fouls, the other 4 on the court run up and down as Merkle can't keep up with that. Maybe Benson instead of Haven and if so that might spell the future of who is getting playing time and even a hint of the future for that position.

21-20 we are up at the end of one. Held the big gal Merkle to 5 by Cece, Lety and Haven on brief minute. Wallace with 12 for us, we need that second shooter and everyone on here thinks is has to be Webber getting more time. We did have Lety and Cece in at the same time and I liked that lineup.

Wallace with 19 points at half on 7-9 shooting, big blocked shoot also. Webber 8 points on 3 of 5, the rest of the team was 4-16 from the field. Good thing we shoot FT so well and play big time defense. The game plan to slow Merkle worked in the first half, but still have a long way to go, good plan Coach Green.

One note the second foul on Merkle was because Haven was in, being big and she has to go around Haven and picked up the foul. SO nice to have some tall girls on the bench for once. Bostic would have loved to have the help in years past
