The number of times I saw opponent's RBs break off huge runs in holes where Hood was supposed to be are countless. We can do better.

Agree with you on Hayden.

In the old days, only a few years ago :), players would put their time in college and hope to make $$ in the professional ranks.

Now there are a LOT of college players who will earn 7 figures in college and never see a single play in the NFL.

This is the time for these kids to maximize their earnings, and I don't begrudge that at all.

Now, here's to hoping we get a few big dollar donors to add to the current pot and have Illinois a place where a silly amount of money is spent!

Losing that many guys of such quality to one school in under a year… when’s the last time that’s happened at Illinois? Maybe the Walter’s fiasco, though I’m not totally sure even that qualifies.

This is like us taking the entire Wisconsin D-Line last offseason.

I’m very happy you’re not our GM or coach making these calls.

We’re not playing the same game anymore, this is big boy football we’re competing against. We have the $ to upgrade, and we will - or we’ll try.

The question is, is our talent evaluation good enough to get us to the CFP.

Won't be a top rated tight end because we don't utilize them much in the offense. Mostly an extra blocker for the most part. Why would any of the best ones want to come to Illinois.

I’m saying they are probably more qualified than you, me, and probably everyone on this board (unless there’s a coaching guru hanging out on here) to evaluate players and know what they see on film, in practice or games. With that in mind, I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt on who they’re bringing in.

I’m also not saying you sold FAMILLY. I’m saying just because there’s been more attrition this year, I don’t see how it hinders them from selling that. To me, it’s about the type of atmosphere you’re coming into, not the fact that players stay 4 years. Players are aware of the current state of college football. They’re the ones taking advantage of it.

They’re not done adding transfers, neither the portal or signing window are closed, so maybe let this play out.

I mean, in fairness, to use a poker analogy, if you have a lot more money than the other players at the table, you can buy a lot of good pots. You know your opponents can't play the hand without significant risk, so you get more aggressive pushing chips in and bully them out of hands.

So if you're TAMU and you need one of the best kickers in the nation, you push your money in. If you see a team that has been outperforming "higher talent" teams, you check out their recruits and push your money in.

As long as we have talent to steal, elite teams will try to steal it. Simple as that. And I mean, its not like we aren't Beckman boothing Colorado State right now...

We'll be fine. The Indiana, Oregon and Miami transfers will avail themselves within the next two weeks.
