Yea they do. Doesn’t change the fact that 44% of the current portal is committed.
Also… why would a player enter the portal this late? More than likely the reason is getting recruited over. And then the other group is guys seeking major paydays after seeing what others got. Neither markets are something we seem to shop in. So not really sure what notre dames current commit count matters for our DL pursuits.

I think we have done well in the portal. Filled holes on the D with speed and athleticism. We have more weapons on the offense while getting more athletic and bigger on the OL.
Which is fine honestly. If it’s a reset year that happens. But then we should reset with a new defensive staff. Because what’s the point of trotting out a young and unproven defense under A Henry again.
I’m really excited about the offense and secondary for 2026. We’ll figure out the front 7 on D.

People also fail to realize that money we spent more money on prep recruiting this year. Rankin, Hankins, champ smith..etc aren’t coming here for free. We also signed 3 top jucos
We’ve added solid depth and starters in the portal. I would imagine we add 2 no doubt starters on the dline and more depth. People freaking out 1 week into the portal season is crazy

159 players of the top 200 (almost 80%) on 247 have already committed. This portal season is very different than past years. It is far more accelerated given the limitations introduced this year
There’s guys that aren’t even in the portal yet
you realize players will keep being added to the portal. Not to mention the rankings are absolute garbage. Cole Rusk is ranked a 4 star transfer
There’s also players in the portal who haven’t been announced. Guys are also on teams being shopped around by agents.
