Yep. And you just know that in our next game Northwestern will do a hook and hold and it won’t be egregious at all and the refs won’t call it. They’ll review it and it’ll be marginally worse than what Keaton did but they won’t call it. Defending against your middle-of-the-road teams is one thing. When we were up against Nebraska who are clearly a conference title contender, they absolutely shredded us. Alabama and UCONN did the same. We have yet to demonstrate that we can ramp up our defense against one of the conference title contenders...teams that come with us with both skill and athleticism. We could absolutely use Ty's defense, particularly if he's developed a serviceable outside shot.

Hate to bring bad news but..
Even without seeing the statistics our defense passes the eye test compared to what we were doing earlier. Since the Nebraska game our defense is better than any time in the last two seasons. Our schemes are better, we are hedging on the pnrs and contesting shots at the rim. I have been waiting for this for two years. Mirk was great at holding up the ballhandler when his man was doing the screening and able to recover in a way that didn't hurt us. Not giving up nearly as many uncontested drives to the basket.

That is correct, only way to switch the call against Iowa to Illinois was by calling it flagrant. Otherwise, they have to stay with the original call. The refs need another option in those situations, a flagrant foul call on that play is ridiculous

Good news…in 2024 at this time we were 12-3 and ranked 13th on Torvik…and went on to make the Elite 8.
Note: we pass the eye test this year & this groups chemistry, competitiveness, unselfish play and hustle jump through the screen. I don’t think we could say that all the time last season, even with the injuries and sickness… just wanted to put things in perspective… let’s keep it rolling.

The radio broadcasts has been my only source of audio on all Illini games for the last 7-8 years now and I love Brian , Deon and Doug's enthusiasm for the beloved....I truly feel like I am at the game listening to their elite announcing.....I really really do............
Yes, but that team has multiple lights out shooting nights we never saw again. Much higher peaks, much lower valleys. They were also injured and sick a lot after this point in the season as well.

Don’t think you would’ve heard that from anyone on that 22-23 team. The locker room and personalities in it are a significant part of winning.
