KW for one. I love Wagler but playing him 36-38 minutes a game is not smart. He could hit a wall on a tolling B1G schedule. I love Waglers game ands what he brings, but he needs a break. Petro can get 10 minutes easily by taking 3-4 for Wagler, 3-4 from Boz and a a few from AS. I do not believe this would hurt us at all. Playing 9 will keep us fresh the rest of the season

Well aside from your point and the nuttiest hot takes, it was clear we struggled with our zone offense vs Minny. Those that have played or coached basketball know that getting the ball to the FT line vs the zone is literally middle school basketball, so that’s where that frustration comes from.
As for a straight faced look in the mirror at team potential, most can agree that it’s our effort and defense for stretches of these games that is just not quite up to standard.
Whatever the reasons for it, illness, fatigue, complacency, you can argue all you want.
The inarguable fact of this matter is that 20-30 minutes of total effort and grit is not winning the B1G title, and it’s not getting this team through 6 W’s in March.
This is unquestionably a deep and talented team that has to make up for some lack of athleticism with pure effort and intensity. We’ve seen it and it’s almost unbeatable when it’s hitting shots and clamping down on opponents.
Gotta bring it for 40 if you want to be special.
According to ESPN, Wagler and Boz are both averaging just under 32 mpg. As good as they are for us, I don't think you want to pair that back.
I would love to see more of Petro as I think he can be a really good PG, but realistically it's hard to see where his minutes would come from.

I really think that he has to play ONLY when Wagler is taking a break. They both need to have the ball in their hands. Wagler just seemed out of place when he was in with Petro yesterday. However, they haven't had much experience playing together, so it may get better.
It’s ironic those who complain we don’t adjust, want set minutes for certain players.
Petro, as all players, will get the minutes the coach feels the game calls for. Yesterday, he played well in his minutes and was a great curveball

I just went off their individual stats/BPR values, but I admit I have not watched Kansas this year. I also admit that we would need Tre White's buy-in, which is far from guaranteed. That being said, purely from basketball I think White has him beat this year. Evamiya has Tre White at 6.18. Andrej is at 3.94.

I think a lot of takeaways are being overstated from a game in which we played a team that got red hot in the first half, yet managed to be tied going into halftime and then proceeded to win the second half by 10 points.
Andrej didn’t seem like he had a bad game to me, it was just us finding ways to beat a zone which is designed to take away his skillset/archetype… 3 assists and 0 turnovers means he helped in other ways on offense.
The zone itself, and attacking it: I thought Boswell really struggled there and also the zone was designed to either not allow the entry to the middle and to attack the catch when it did happen. Great coaching by Medved to implement something that actually slowed this offense down for a bit, and maybe also some good coaching on Brads part to get Petro out there.
And as far as overall effort, I thought Tomi in particular really brought it yesterday. Z certainly did. Andrej helped hold Tyson to his 2nd lowest point total of the entire season. I saw Boswell flying around trying to get steals and offensive rebs. Speaking of rebs we once again held a significant margin which is effort.

I hope the Illini are seeing potential to be the best offense in the nation. Never stop improving.
I like Tre as a player too.
I wonder how much different his scoring and rebounding numbers would look in Andrej’s role on our team. Doubt he is more than our 3rd option on offense. He looks to have improved the 3 point shot immensely but see if that percentage normalizes (he just went 0-4). He takes a lot of inefficient midrange shots. He is the 2nd leading rebounder on a very poor overall rebounding team (Kansas in bottom half of NCAA in rebound rate and margin).
As far as either being overpaid, I think salary inconsistency is something that occurs pretty regularly. Some guys live up to their contracts more than others and you’ll have kids that way overperform too. Just how it goes, idk.
Yeah that's a good call-out. I think a lot would be predicated on if White could accept his role on our team, and judging from last year he probably would not.

uhh that seems horrible. we are Illini and had our own level of adversity....I literally joked preseason that Purdue had stumbled into all Americans from 3 and 4 stars and when it was gonna be our time. it's now.
