Incredibly frustrated by the Boswell situation. I’m officially scarred by mid-season injuries and bizarre circumstances that always seem to pop up. It’s always something. That said, there’s no coach better equipped to manage Frankenstein lineups, especially with a roster this deep.

If my napkin math is correct, BU has coached 13 games with Ayo, Shannon & Tomi sidelined for various reason. He's 8-5 in the stretch. Let's go 6-4 over the next 10 and get KB fully healthy before the Michigan game.

Do we lead the nation in player injuries during practice?

I genuinely think there’s a chance someone gains a ton of confidence and gets a lot better over the next month with the extra run. Domask stepped into a huge role without TJ. Tre white went from out of the rotation to super valuable I believe due to Morez broken wrist? Something positive could come out of this. I just hope Kylans jumpshot is back to normal when he returns. I worry about a shooting hand injury

The type of break he has is more of a pain in the a** than anything else. There's no surgery, not a ton of buildup of scar tissue(no huge range of motion issues), he's not out for 6 months and nothing is keeping him off of a treadmill, so conditioning won't be an issue. It just hurts like heck at first, then the swelling goes down, the pain chills out, it itches like crazy and when the cast does come off, one wrist will look smaller than the other. Enter Fletch. This is what he's paid for.

Hopefully, the x-ray in 3 to 4 weeks will show the bone will have healed and there's there is no additional pain. That part is just a roll of the dice. Everyone's healing timeline is different.

What could bother him is if he's required to wear protection on the wrist for awhile to keep it from getting banged around. They'll find something as comfortable as possible.

Just have to wait it out and do as much as possible in the interim.

On a much different note, this is why it's absolutely critical to make sure that you've developed a bench at EVERY position. We had guys on this board who thought it was totally appropriate to have Boswell and Wagler both pencilled in for 37/38 minutes each night. This situation was bound to happen whether it be because of foul trouble or injury, illness, family emergency, etc (regardless if it was one game or six). So, here we are having to replace 37/38 minutes with answers that are unknowns. If Kylan would have picked up three fouls in a half....same issue.

Hopefully, we come out stronger on the other side, where we don't have to run both guys into the ground because we'll have developed a quality minutes eater.

With Kylan out, the bench will be reduced to pretty much nothing in the backcourt for the next few weeks. I'm sure BU will have a bunch of different lineups to mess with that will get us through most games.

Where the real question comes in is what happens in a close game in the last 2 or 3 minutes. In a game that needed to be closed out at the foul like, Kylan was pretty much automatic. Not sure I trust many others to step up there with the game on the line, on the road, and bury two.

Getting the ball inbounds, having a ball handler that doesn't panic or dribble into a corner, throw a cross court pass, etc is where this situation might rear its head most. We shall see! It'll be interesting!

Didn't he break the same hand in high school?

I'll trust this youngster . . . Shooting 83.3% from the line on the season is pretty pretty good.

Yes, but you have to get him the ball. He's going to be denied so that literally anyone else gets fouled. He's also going to be attacked on the defensive end to try and get him on foul trouble. This is a large part of the issue, which effects Keaton most.

Take the load he's currently carrying and double it.

Great story, thank you for sharing. But that's a little like saying, other than that, how was the play Mrs. Lincoln?
I remember watching him play. Was a very smart player and maximized the skills he had. His death was very tragic.

Hands heal slowly from anyone who has had surgery. I had a very minor tendon release and was surprised how long it took for strength and function to return. Different type of injury and he is younger and will have better physical therapy. But I don't expect the same Kylan until possibly end of season.

I agree. He might technically "come back" by late February. By I doubt he's anywhere near 100% this season. He's a guard, he handles the ball a lot and the broken hand is his strong hand. It sucks for him and for us.

Yep, not a break, but had a funky injury to my thumb playing ball- messed up the joint and tendon.. it's been over 6 months and FINALLY started to feel normal again (though it's still sensitive). Hands can be a pain

Being his dominant hand is a problem. Be lucky if he is able to have 100% use and strength anytime before 6 months. Had a screw/pin put in my left wrist 35 years ago for a fractured scaffoid bone. It has never been the and had to have another surgery on it 15 years later. Only positive thing about is fortunately I'm right handed.
