In my humble opinion, short answer yes. Not just off GP, but because we needed a lead guard and spent to bring him in for it. With the world of revenue sharing, spending money to sit him is bad roster/money management. It also brings questions to either the eval, the development, or something else. As a booster, when asking for money these types of things will be looked at more and more.

We knew he had defensive liabilities when he was signed, but we should develop schemes around his strengths and maximize them to play him as we do with other players. In the past and currently, players with defensive liabilities get a lot of tick.

The eval mistake is a sunk cost, and nothing is going to fix that. You hit on some guys (Keaton) and miss on others, that's just a risk that will always be there. But if you miss --your eval of the player was wrong, or how they'd fit on your eventual roster doesn't pan out, or some new factor came into play, those are separate issues. Playing a high cost player over one that actually plays better on the court makes no sense, and boosters understand they're taking a risk. They want winning basketball.

Underwood went to Petro first over Lee, so I think he's still wanting to give both players a chance to separate themselves. We're all rooting for both of them to do well, but my guess is he'll settle on one of them.

Right on. And with Kylan out I think Lee actually makes more sense than Petro because Lee is a much better defender. But I hope both can contribute.

Something else I haven't seen in the thread yet that should be pointed out: after a few struggles against Minnesota's zone in the first half of that game, the second half and then the entirety of this game, we attacked the zone quite masterfully... 43 second half points vs Minnesota and then 89 points last night... very promising that we've proven you can't just go zone and shut things off.

I do concede the competition/talent level of a Maryland & Minnesota, and that Minnesota went away from 100% zone at one point, but it is promising nonetheless as both teams are far better defensively than they are on offense.

Then after getting back he wasn't paying attention because he had been pouting, went to guard the wrong man, and gave up a wide open 3 as a result. To make it worse he came off the court during the next timeout and brushed past the coaches when they tried to talk to him.

Alfonso Plummer was a guy with defensive liabilities but he played a lot because for all his faults, and after some rough moments, early he worked his tail off and gave 100% effort.

The only person Petrovic has to blame for not getting more minutes is himself.

Plummer was a 40% 3pt shooter and had the right attitude. That type of guy plays on most teams.

A few more pointers on this:

— Jake Davis has a 4.5 ratio and Ben has a 5.0 ratio. They don’t have the ball in their hands nearly as much (15 assists, 3 TOs for Ben; 9 assists, 2 TOs for Davis), but still pretty impressive. Both one of the tops in the country.

— Kylan has a pretty impressive ratio himself as well at 2.54. Last season he was at 1.60.

Our team (so far) has been very good at taking care of the ball.

Anything above 2 is pretty good for a high usage rate guy.

Andrej hitting 3's did wonders for our offense against the zone. I thought we got plenty of good looks against Minnesota, we just missed a bunch, particularly in the first half.

I'm not sure that we attacked the zone differently than we did with Minnesota, its just we made our outside shots this time..And once Maryland switched back to a man to man defense, it was over

Right. Making shots helps. We were 8-14 from 3 point range in the second half vs Minnesota. I said this last night, but our biggest challenge right now with a zone is knowing when/how to cut through and attack gaps. We are getting the ball in the middle of the zone, but it is being kicked back out for 3s at too high of a rate vs those zone defenses. At some point we will struggle to make 3s and need another way to attack it.

First, let me say, I would love MP to get more minutes. I think he is an excellent PG. I liken him to “good” Curbello. I like those kinds of PGs, pure PG. But, I don’t understand why a lot of people (well, maybe not a lot, but a significant number) and even some media people felt that he would be getting more playing time. KW is the Illini’s PG. MP can realistically only play PG. Therefore, ipso facto, But with KW playing 38 minutes a game, more or less, MP is not going to get much in the way of additional minutes. Maybe some more, like last night’s game, but not significantly more.
