Andrej 4 points, 2-6, 0 assists, 3 TO's

Add in another drive to the hoop that was very bad and might as well be considered a TO, as it led to a transition basket for Purdue.

This is what I am talking about. Every. Single. Time.

How is it possible that Purdue switches Smith onto our bigs and we can't take advantage? Crazy for them to stay on the perimeter with a 12inch height advantage.

I'd like to see more movement on offense both with the ball and players. We are way too easy to defend, outside of Wagler.

One of my favorite things about Keaton..... He doesn't get in people's faces, have ridiculous "look-at-me" gestures, or scream through a lumberjack beard expecting every call..... He just balls. Cold-blooded.
Unlike TKR who acted like he had just hit a game winner…3 minutes into the game.

Matt Painter will make adjustments at halftime designed to shutdown Wagler.
Brad Underwood will make adjustments at halftime designed to ?
The answer to that question will determine who wins this game.

The issue is defense, not offense. I think Purdue plays faster off the dribble and roll than any team we have played. The double team or the switch isn't working and we are trying to fight through the screens on all 3 Purdue players that they are setting up (Smith, Lawyer and Kaufmann - Renn) but we are getting rubbed off. That is why Purdue is shooting 63% from the floor.

If there is a way to defend that, we can beat these guys.

Maybe we could play some defense? I also find it hilarious but unsurprising that we’re the least fouling team in the nation and yet the refs has Purdue in the bonus IN THE FIRST HALF

Adre thinks he's NBA, he is not at this point. Cant hit beyond 15ft. Nooo, Defense. If he Jacks up 15 shot of course he'll get 15pts. Now that I think about it, that's todays Nba., never mind.

I'm not sure what sort of adjustment Purdue can make to stop Wagler. Maybe they just try to tire him out on defense?

I vote to play zone on defense.

Ok, ok, ok… I’ll own that “Andrej isn’t good enough for the BIG” is an over the top hot take. Maybe should have said, Andrej isn’t good enough to be the star player he seems to think he is, in the BIG.

(No idea the man’s ego, just based off how he plays).

Feel like that zone needs to be the defense from here on out. I don’t trust anyone on our team going over ball screens while Braden Smith turns the corner and gets downhill.
Maybe. But zone opens us up to 3’s. They got some good looks running PnR. They will get those with Smith. But they also hit some tough middies. Think I would rather see if they can hit 60% midrange for another half than 40% on catch and shoot 3s

Okay, but I don't like the offense rebounds and not immediately going up by both Tomi and Mirk in this game. Those are gold medal shots (namely open 2s, often facing the basket). Yes, a Purdue big (who each guy just outrebounded) comes on these guys in about 1 second, that is ONE FULL SECOND TO SHOOT a rebound shot. These guys need to do this, rather than being so passive or thinking it's better to later shoot a contested 3. It isn't!

We need to find a way to get easy hoops, which is where Boswell was gold. He was our version of Smith. He could break a defense down and make the right pass for a layup. I'd hate to think that Wagler needs 50 for us to have a shot.

Boswell would also at least help to keep Smith out of the paint, breaking us down. He's a flat out stud and makes them really, really good. Have to try and at least limit his damage. Going zone and hoping they miss isn't ideal.

I can’t overstate how much I love this aspect of him. Just be humble and let your game do the talking.

It seems like Keaton is moving himself up the NBA draft board each minute this game goes on. That young man is The Greatest Show on Earth this game.

In totality, yes the defense was not good... I think what infuriated me the most was those back to back wide open threes for Mayer off of total miscommunication.
