And there it is officially … It wasn’t a well kept secret he was looking for an out and Bret was likely looking to make a change but needed to ensure his guy landed in a good spot (shoutout Chris Ash) … Wish Aaron the best …

Hence my comment the other day about who was and more so who wasn’t out on the road …

Now Bret … Time to cook … DC, RB, TE, ST …

I liked Ahen but he wasn’t ready to be a DC at this level. He was at his best when he was coaching corners for us. When Walter’s left he took over as DC and was also coaching safeties.

I caught that little DC nugget you left there and thought no way…great news!

Thank you! This was probably the only way Henry would leave here. I don't think BB had the guts to fire him because of his relationship with him. Now we can start fresh.

I'm concerned that so much time has past that we might not find a good replacement.

It certainly shows a care for the people that work for him. What is unclear is if the delayed process is the best for Illinois football.
In the long run, I think stuff like this helps. Sure maybe we don't end up with option 1A in this search, but I'm sure there are good candidates who would be interested. And this is the kind of boss people want to work for, which helps with hiring and retaining good coaches and personnel.

Bret is so good at this. What looks like a step-up or lateral move for Aaron but we all know what it is. Brilliant.

I think this is a great example of the echo chamber/reality gap in fanboards like Loyalty. Two of the board's problem children just got poached by top-tier programs, and instead of stopping to ask if we were wrong about them, we’re busy celebrating Bert’s 'brilliance.'

Similar to the "Tyler Underwood only has a job because of nepotism" discussion over the summer while he was simultaneously discovering and recruiting a future B1G POY candidate and lottery pick.

I mean, with Discher maybe you have a point, but Henry took a demotion to go to a bigger program, so that's either a lateral move or step down. He's not going to have the responsibility there that he had here.
