Serious question.Where does this team rank compared to the 88/89 team?
On a national scene many felt Illinois was best team. Only game they lost with Kendall Gill in line up was the semis. Illinois beat Michigan the eventual champ by 15+ twice in regular season.

Different Era in recruiting, this team has one year transfers, international players, 5th year players and NIL recruiting. The current team should win. 2026 team has better 3 pt shooting, positional size, and much deeper with bigs.

Just Different Era, current time emphasizes 3 pt shooting and spacing. 1989 team was much more athletic, not even close.

Keaton got absolutely manhandled the entire game and he’s whining about the refs? 🙄
Don't have an issue with it. Fred's coaching for the next game in that presser. Making refs put contact on Sandfort under a microscope. He's doing what he has to to get Sandfort space to get easier looks because that's how they win. Knowing the B10, they'll send Jeffrey Anderson and DJ to their next game as they're the whistle happy crew.

Also, comments like these can have a possible effect in a rematch game. 2001 Illinois Arizona being the epitome of that. Say it now, get the clips brought up before the next game and have refs going in looking for it. Smart move by Hoiberg to work the refs here in my opinion as last thing he wants is more teams getting physical with Sandfort.

And speaking of, I'm sure Brad is going to be sending a video to the B10 office this week on some of those fouls on Keaton. As he should.

When Z is on the court, he completely wrecks opponents gameplans inside the arc. Nebraska tried testing him early but realized they wanted absolutely none of that Dikembe action. Nebraska's offensive efficiency when challenging Z tonight was something on the order of 3pts on over 10 attempts.

This season, when Z has been on the court, opponents average under 58pts per 40minutes! He is Top 10 in the nation in adjusted defensive efficiency when on court! Those are astounding numbers that will improve even more after today's game.

I was high on him preseason and he has blown away all expectations. He's been absolutely phenomenal for us and credit to the coaches for utilizing him in a much better way than Cal did and mixing in zone where he absolutely flourishes. Kid has been a great one.

Its not just the coaches using him better Z has been using his own length better. After some of the early games he has almost completely stopped biting on pump fakes and its making all the difference. When you are that big/long and can get up as fast as him there is absolutely no reason to jump first. He's also not getting lost like he was early on. So credit to the coaches for finally getting through and to Z for putting it in play on the court!

Keaton Wagler's composure and coolness is quite amazing given his age.

It seems like when times are tough, which you can guarantee they will be in the tournament, he's gonna be the one who the team looks to. Which is practically unheard of -- a freshman being the calming influence.

The way that seems to be shaping up is interesting given its implications for Boswell, who I love, but who seems to be less of a calm, cool, collected type of leader, although a leader in his own way.

Great combination to have as your back court in a high-stress E8 game, for example.

AP poll is a joke. Nebraska is not a top 4 team in the B1G. And certainly isn't a top 5 team in the country. The AP will continue to push their bs poll. And networks will continue to advertise it as something important.

Simple because he is by far the best player on the team.

"KenPom, the AP Poll, and the NCAA seeding are measuring three different things, and that's okay and fun and good for the sport"
