Illini in the Pros (Football)

These guys become professional football players as far back as high school. Their time with any given "employer" means about the same as it would for you and me.

KW3 will win MVP for sure but spoony has been great, its just tough to win a Superbowl MVP if you are never targeted!
If there was a representative MVP for the defense, Spoon would be the obvious choice. Walker will be a deserving winner, but you could make a case for picking a defensive player just because the defense as a group has been so good.

Think about how monstrous that 2023 draft class was — they got Witherspoon (#5) AND Smith-Njigba (#20) in the first round.

It was the Russell Wilson trade that resulted in Witherspoon by way of the 5th pick, acquired from Denver. I remember their fans were upset as they wanted Jalen Carter.

That was a pretty decent draft at the top:

#1 Bryce Young
#2 CJ Stroud
#3 Will Anderson Jr
#4 Anthony Richardson
#5 Devon Witherspoon
#6 Paris Johnson Jr
#7 Tyree Wilson
#8 Bijan Robinson
#9 Darnell Wright
#10 Jalen Carter

Yes, technically Carter was 9 and Wright was 10, but Philly and CHI just swapped one spot for a 4th rounder. Bears passed on Carter. Darnell Wright's been pretty good though.

Not a lot of busts other than #4 and maybe #7.
