I really got the urge right now to play shinny again. Those were the days on wobbly cheap skates on uneven frozen ponds. What fun! Bought Bauer Supremes in 1972. Heck, yes. No more wobble.

in 1980 - I was a frosh - a bunch of guys from my dorm - Hopkins 2nd floor - watched it in my room (267) pretty sure it was a Friday night .

I can still hear Al Michaels call it

And what people forget is that that game wasn't the gold medal game. Back then, the medal round was round robin and there was a scenario that if the U.S. don't beat Finland a couple days later, then they don't even finish on the podium.

Okay. Canadia has maple leaf on jersey. I'd like a bold eagle on ours. But large USA will do.

I just noticed this thread. You're right. I say snowboard cross is like NASCAR on snow on a steep hill. It's been my favorite Olympic sport of all but they reduced the number of racers this year from 6 to 4 and that eliminated most, but not all, of the crashes. It is absolutely fun to watch.

I've had people trying to argue with me that Hellebuyck deserved tournament MVP over McDavid.

Hellebuyck was great in the tournament, especially in the gold medal game. But McDavid was just otherworldly. He set three separate NHL olympic records.
