People dissing on Petro’s lack of defense preventing him from playing time and yet we see cr@p like what we saw tonight. Please, he can’t be worse what we saw. Put him out there. At least he might contest a three.
Brad didn’t whiff on Podz. Pretty sure he had a spot if he wanted to stay. Brad isn’t going to give anyone guaranteed playing time, nor should he.Go back and look at the roster when Podz came in as a freshman compare it to this season when Wagler got here there is no comparison. Pods was not passing Trent, DMFW, Granderson, Curbelo, Luke and Melendez. He was buried and getting hammered in practice. Wagner basically had no one to beat out. These are facts and not rumors. Brad has his lineups pretty well defined by time they play the first games. If your not in the 7-8 top players you will garbage minutes period unless its EIU then DGL can have a career game.
Podz was a better then average shooter but honestly lacked at ball skills when here. Not sure if he stays that improves much but he blossomed elsewhere. Did Brad wiff probably not. But go look at our rosters since Brad got here and show me who suddenly emerged from the top 7-8 after summer practices
I don’t think so?Brad didn’t whiff on Podz. Pretty sure he had a spot if he wanted to stay. Brad isn’t going to give anyone guaranteed playing time, nor should he.
Podz went to Santa Clara, where he had an ultimate green light. That’s what he needed to flourish. There was no reason to believe we should have designed an offense around him. Kid was always a worker though.
welp, there it is then. mortal lock.
assigning value to shaky sources (click bait factories dependent on limited scouting by amateurs) is tricky, at best
at worst though, we certainly seem like a prime contender. hope we get him
not trying to be a pedant here, recruiting service citations are a flippin' trigger. mebbe I need help
We’re always going to struggle with how far we want to stray from the archetypes of players we want. I know there’s been discussion on Morez and Plummer not fitting their positional wants for this current team.
I do think BU does a good job of molding the play style around the current roster. I also think a non shooting big vs a smaller PG are vastly different deficiencies.
I think one area this current roster would benefit from would be having a more diverse bench. It’s obviously fresh on our minds, but quick smaller guards have been our Achilles heel this year. Having someone like Davis to defend against that would be beneficial.
not directed at you, one iota...
but only an idiot would think we're sleeping on Morillo. this tweet is click bait, pure and simple
Never have or never will compare the Podz and DGL. Don't see a future NBAer in DGL.Podz is DGL...they weren't going to get mins. here. They went lower than Power conferences. They both had/have green lights to flourish. Good for both of them. Only thing I think is we got better players when borh left. Full stop, hardly ever think of either anymore.
Who said he should have had the offense built around him? He was an NBA first rounder the next season and never really played. Now i like Damonte the person. I see him here in Peoria and support him as a person. He isnt playing professionally at all because he wasnt near Podz. To say he or some others were or are better player than Podz is just nuts. Its not the same as Mihailo who has 3 stud guards ahead of him in Boz, Wags, and AndreBrad didn’t whiff on Podz. Pretty sure he had a spot if he wanted to stay. Interesting situation since we all have just 2 signees.Illinois is pushing harder for Jaxon Davis and that is one to watch. I do think backing off of him earlier set them back some. He liked Illinois a lot early on. Meanstreets guys aren't Underwood fans, so that's a little bit of an obstacle, but Davis doesn't really listen to them that much
In the 2026 class, they aren't ready to add anyone yet. Waiting to see who stays, who goes, and what the portal and international markets looks like.
Also, keep a close eye on the coaching carousel. Potential transfers and class of 2026 signees opting out.
Petrovic is leaning towards leaving. We'll see. To stay, he would have to take a pay cut.
I am a little surprised they would want Petrovic back even discounted.Illinois is pushing harder for Jaxon Davis and that is one to watch. I do think backing off of him earlier set them back some. Haven’t seen you post in 6 months…welcome back! Thanks for the update. Are you suggesting potential Illini assistant coaches moving on? That makes me worry about Coach O, Murillo, and Lee.Illinois is pushing harder for Jaxon Davis and that is one to watch. I do think backing off of him earlier set them back some. Because Petrovic is way shorter than most everyone he's gonna play against, and because he is much older with more experience, I figured he must be better than them on almost all other fronts. So I expected him to be quick and fast, to have really good handles, court vision, hoops IQ, etc, I want all of our guys to succeed, because that makes our team better, but, sadly, I haven't seen much of any one of those things from Petrovic. I think he needs to move on and we open up a spot for another recruit.Illinois is pushing harder for Jaxon Davis and that is one to watch. I do think backing off of him earlier set them back some.
