Chicago Bears 2026

Looking from the outside,

Bills get a (near) all-pro WR who is already hooked up with the Bills system, and get the Bears to eat $8M, plus a 5th round pick
Bears get a 2nd round pick, and free some cap space (but only 16 out of 24M)

I think the Bills got an insanely good deal.

Pretty sure Buffalo is on the hook for next year's salary too. I'm not sure if the Bears current receivers are ready to step up, but Moore clearly didn't click with Caleb. 50 balls for 682 yards is awful for being the highest paid player on your roster. Let's not forget running off the field before plays were over 2 years ago. Add in the fact that there are holes and you drafted receivers the last two years using high picks....seems like this was always on the table as a possibility.

Edit: Let's also not forget the last play of the season that cost them a trip to the NFC Championship game. Did he run the wrong route or did he quit on the play? One is far worse than the other, but both are unacceptable for a #1 receiver.

FWIW, ESPN disagrees with you. They give an A to the Bears on the trade and a D to the Bills.

Moore is an expensive luxury for the Bears considering he’s likely to be the third or even 4th target in the offense next year. He’s two seasons removed from All Pro caliber production. The Bears did good to get a 2nd rounder for him.

ESPN did not acknowledge the Bears eating $8M for (at least) the first year.

Also, the logic escapes me; if I have 4 $15M jets and I think I only need 3, why would I sell 1 jet for (way) less than $15M??
Especially when the 3 jets I am keeping are not completely reliable.
Why wouldn't I point out that I am selling my best jet and start by asking MORE than $15M? Sales101, I think.
But I do get the argument that the Bears didn't need him, and it frees up cap space (except for that pesky $8M).

I guess it would depend on how much you had left on the loan...

Compare these jets, and tell me which one you are keeping. I'd keep the one with way fewer miles.

I hope Rome can catch the football this year

Probably because your premise is flawed.
1 Jet is older and costs us a lot more and we didn't even use it as much as the others
The buyer of this Jet can clearly see those facts

I read they gave him "permission to seek a trade" or something like that, a few days ago.
Sounded like he had the option to stay or go. I guess not!
I think I read he had the most tackles on the team last year - kinda weird you'd let that guy go.
No one wanted that contract. A trade was unlikely at best. I imagine he didn't want to restructure it, either.

Seems like the Bears are racking up cap space for a big fish...

Moore isn't close to a pro-bowler let alone All-Pro

For those who had any dreams about Crosby, he's reportedly heading to Baltimore for a first round pick this year and next year.
We didn't want him anyway. Too good, make the other lineman feel inferior.

Two 1sts is a Lot…. Even if we wanted to match we couldn’t give them a top 15 this year. Competing with that offer would have been a really tough pill to swallow. A lot of capital riding on one man’s health competing an an extremely violent sport.
Maxx is awesome, but business is business. The Bears have a lot of opportunity to improve with the cap space and picks they’ve acquired.

The Edmunds release doesn’t necessarily make us better, but he has never lived up to that contract. He’s a decent player we paid like a star. He’s a specimen, but he looks better coming off the bus than he does between the lines. I was pleasantly surprised how little we missed him when he was hurt. We were better when he played, but not a lot.

Bradbury should be better in Johnson’s system than he was in NE. We do a lot more play-action/under center stuff than they do out east. He played better in that type of system in Minnesota. 1st round talent. Perhaps some upside, if they can figure it out. At worst a placeholder while they attempt to build the roster for the long haul. Takes center from a glaring need to a nice to have on draft weekend.

I like our free agent adds...a few holes filled before the draft...not happy about no comp picks...let's get Byard resigned...
