If someone had offered me 15-5 in the B1G, no losses to bad teams and a possible 2 seed in March Madness, I would have gladly accepted…for any season.
This team had some tough OT losses, but it looks like every loss was to a team that’s going to the tourney. And very entertaining. Looking forward to what comes next.

• Tournament Impact: Since 2014, no national champion has shot under 35.5% from three-point range.
• Recent Trends: Illinois has shown a high reliance on 3-pointers, with 56.2% of their shots over a 10-game period being 3-pointers.

220 missed shots in our last ten games and somehow still #1 in offensive efficiency. It makes me sick how many of those were bad shots, and cold nights, some games we couldn't buy a 3 and still won, some games Brad just kept letting them brick it and we lost. New year same game plan, expect the same results.

Announcer said as of today Illinois' worst loss was against Wisconsin. If that's true, this has been a very good year of basketball for a team that really had never played together but was incredibly connected, fun to watch (best offense ever, unexpected player development, etc) and with role players like Jake and Ben who were easy to cheer for . They have played hard, played together and did whatever Brad asked of them. No one pouted when they didn't start or get enough p.t. Heck, I never even saw Petro with a bad look or comment. Sure, they could have easily won a couple of extra close ones but also could have easily lost a couple of close ones. Would love to see a deep run in the tournament but regardless it won't steal the enjoyment I've had watching this team grow and play real team basketball. Thanks to Josh, Brad/staff, players and managers for making it easy to be a fan.

A sweet 16 would be a disappointing end to the season, right?
Any end that comes from a loss is disappointing.
The regular season was a lot of fun. Some very memorable games. We’ll be talking about Wagler in Mackie for the rest of our lives.
Only one team won’t be disappointed, doesn’t mean it wasn’t a fun ride. Sports fandom is rarely particularly gratifying at the end.
Disappointing, yes. A failure? No.

Illinois was 2-5 against the top 6 teams in the conference. This team is terrible on defense and with their inconsistent 3 pount shooting the ceiling is the Sweet 16. If they get lucky and have higher seeded teams get upset then Illinois can make the Elite 8 but they can't never beat a 1 seed. Teams that have really good guards will give them a problem in the tournament. It's sad that I have to post this but Fears jr has become a better player than Boswell. Fears is the one Underwood didn't want because he couldn't shoot but he is definitely a 1st team all-conference player this year.
