FWIW, 247 had him #36.In fairness. Kasparas was probably a top 20-30 level equivalent but just wasn’t rated because he came from overseas. But the point stands. We’ve certainly maximized our talent.

IIRC, on here the two teams mentioned here were Kansas and Gonzaga. However, it was super late in the process, and both had found other options.Edit 2: looks like our competition was Gonzaga, BYU and Wake Forest… while not necessarily unheralded, wasn’t a lot of teams that had the same idea we did at the time

Absolutely not. He’s a clownAm I a terrible person to find joy in TKR falling from a First Teamer last year to Honorable Mention?
Don't recall Kansas, but I do remember after KJ and Demin committed to Illinois and BYU, respectively, that it was said that the situation was basically whichever one didn't get the big bag from BYU was going to Illinois... BYU picked Demin and we ended up with (imo) the better player
Individual advanced metrics are a lot less accurate than team ones (especially defensive), but FWIW, Lendeborg was generally at/near the top, and Smith was near the top (but so was Bruce Thornton). Boyd was further down. So the votes are at least justifiable.Really not loving what POY has turned into. Best player on the best team way too often, no recognition of any other factor.
Both the b10 and b12 player of the years I have massive issues with, especially b12.
P.S. someone explain to me how Braden Smith had a better season than Nick Boyd?

He is really good. Should have missed about 6 games though via nutshots. I feel like players have got more for less in the past.how does nutkicker earn first team all big ten? oh yeah, IZZO says so.
Finalists for Jerry West award: Keaton Wagler, Brayden Burries, Emmanuel Sharp, Solo Ball, Isaiah Evans.
Keaton should be the frontrunner to win it, no?
Clearly the MLB/NFL hall of fame voters weren't involved with this (steroids, Belichick, etc)how does nutkicker earn first team all big ten? oh yeah, IZZO says so.
Yaxel was the best player on the floor throughout Big Ten play. The only times Michigan wavered (like their loss to Wisconsin) were based on his health. I think the last four years the award has been correct. Before then the Davis and Garza years were a mistake.Really not loving what POY has turned into. Eh I don't agree with this. He was the best player on the best team sure but there wasn't a time this year where I was like 'I can't wait to watch Yaxel Lendeborg tonight'. Or Yaxel just took over the game and nothing the other team could do about it. I'm sure someone will nitpick and point out some game on Feb. 9 against Minnesota where he did just that but he's just a good player on a team with many of them. Just not a very exciting pick to me. I get it he won it and nothing we can do about it but best player on the floor throughout Big Ten play I just don't agree with that.Yaxel was the best player on the floor throughout Big Ten play.
