LOL@INDIANA. Can you imagine walking up to Bobby Knight in the 80s and telling him that if they played a bracket style tournament in the B10 to determine a champion each season that it would be 29 years and counting and Indiana still wouldn't win a banner and be in the finals only once? Or telling their fanbase that?

Hell, I remember Indiana fans when the BTT was first instituted and all the smack they were talking about how they were going to own it, hahaha. Good times.

Well, after all, what can you expect from a football school.

Today's BTT Factoids:

1. An OSU win today would temporarily allow them to usurp MSU as having the highest win percentage in BTT history.

2. Alternatively, prior to yesterday, there were only 4 teams (MSU, OSU, Illinois, and Wisconsin) who had a historical winning record in BTT play. If Iowa beats OSU today, they become the 5th team with a winning record (sitting at .500 now)

3. Former Pac10 teams are a combined 3-5 in the BTT. They were a combined 110-87 in the Pac10 Tourney. Maryland is 7-11 in the BTT, Rutgers is 6-10, Nebraska is 6-13. The BTT has not been kind to the expansion teams. Does that continue today? We'll see with Washington, UCLA, and Rutgers...

So I looked into it for the B10 based on change in format and definitely a lot closer, where it's closer to the team on the bye being a 2:1 favorite over the team who played the night before:

Record for teams coming off a bye vs teams that played the night before (Overall: 76-40, 0.655WP)
18 Team: (1-1: 0.500WP)
2026: 1-1 (in progress)

14 Team: (39-21: 0.650WP)
2025: 5-1
2024: 5-1
2023: 3-3
2022: 2-4
2021: 5-1
2020:COVID
2019: 4-2
2018: 3-3
2017: 4-2
2016: 3-3
2015: 5-1

12 Team: (11-1: 0.917WP)
2014: 3-1
2013: 4-0
2012: 4-0

11 Team: (25-17: 0.595WP)
2011: 1-2
2010: 2-1
2009: 3-0
2008: 1-2
2007: 2-1
2006: 2-1
2005: 2-1
2004: 3-0
2003: 1-2
2002: 2-1
2001: 1-2
2000: 1-2
1999: 2-1
1998: 2-1
I wonder how it has played out for teams that have played more games that the other later in the BTT? Such as team A has played 2 games and team B has only played one.

Indiana is on its seventh coach in 26 seasons since the IU admin canned Knight. That includes five coaches in 11 seasons, and 15 seasons between Mike Davis and Tom Crean.

I savor their struggles. Hope these continue.

Nolan Winter is OUT for today's game vs Washington

I'll say Washington by 4... 82-78

Miami OH doing their usual play-a-close-game-versus-quad-4-opponent thing so far

Undefeated reg season is a nice story but they're going to get beat by 20 in round 1

Or win by 2 or 3. I had to look 8 of their 31 wins were by 2 or 3 points (26% of their games!). This team should have 4 losses by now, but they simply somehow keep winning.

I predicted in the bracketology thread that Miami loses before the MAC Final. Feeling pretty good about that.

Anybody else talk themself into Washington over Wisconsin today?

Call me crazy but I'm not so sure that the talent level is very different between the 2 teams. (

Be interesting to see if Winter plays... Wisconsin could be vulnerable if they get some front court foul trouble. Steinbach could apply some pressure.

Wisconsin beat UW pretty bad the last outing but when you have a bench player go nuclear and hit 9 3s...
If Iowa state wins today you may want Wisconsin for a Q1 game opportunity and knowing the next game after is Michigan

It won't happen but man, at this point I hope they wind up a 9 seed, beat a mediocre 8 seed by a bucket and then take down Duke the next round to make the Sweet 16, just to see everyone lose their collective minds. I'd laugh so hard.

They're not going to play a 300ish ranked team in round 1 though

I was being tongue in cheek. Miami is going to get stomped in the first round of the tourney and very well may be double-digit underdogs.
With all due respect, I think you are wrong. I don't expect them to get to the final four, but they will win at least 1 game, and depending on matchups, might get to the sweet 16.

All the hate for Miami is just unwarranted. People are looking for excuses for them to lose to say I told you so. Other than Alcorn State in 1979, undefeated teams have had a decent run in the tournament. Its good for college basketball to have teams like this, and unless your team is playing them or your college is in the MAC, we should all be rooting for them. Especially in the NIL era.

I still remember the magical Wally's World run they had to the Sweet 16. That 40 spot Sczerbiak put on Washington was absolutely electric.
Yeah I believe there was a game he scored 43 of the 58 points lol maybe that’s the game I’m thinking of… wild
You have quite the memory, my friend. 43 of 59. Still remember that game. Crazy.

Buckeyes up & none of Thornton/Royal/Mobley have done much offensively with 3 to go in the first half. I like their chances in 2nd half
