I hope we get to sweet 16 but houston in houston is crap. Must not be in the arena where they play because i thought that was a no no ever since we played Kentucky at Rupp.in the elite 8 with E. Winters.
What happened to the days when the committee avoided this type of crap. Houston isn't even a 1 seed. They don't deserve any kind of home court advantage.

If we can't beat a 9-5 Ivy League team that went to Overtime in Semis and Finals of their conference tournament, then whatever. 18/18 Big Ten teams have a better KenPom.
They did upset Yale who had made the tourney 3 straight. Illinois went OT 4 times and Lost all 4.

We could not have asked for a better draw for the opening weekend. If we are not playing next week people should be pissed.
Have you seen us play over the last 2 weeks. I am not taking anything for granted with these guys

Does upenn have an athletic pg? If so, we are screwed
Athletic? No. Shoots like a rifleman? Yes. Power scored 44 earlier today.

Their 3pt shooters are at 43, 40, and 38%. Not athletic, but if Fran schemes to get these guys open shots? They will drain them.

We can trounce them if we do our own scheming to take advantage of our strengths, but this is a serious matchup.

I have a hotel in Saint Louis I am still planning to use next weekend, but man, the tone of that weekend just changed dramatically.

We did it to ourselves, went from controlling our path to getting a ROUGH sweet 16 draw (if we get past UNC).
I do as well. However, we pick a location every year and go regardless of who we're seeing. I'm not a big fan of seeing us live at the tournament because of the potential to ruin the other three games that we're seeing. Illinois plays Thursday/Saturday, our games are Friday/Sunday.....so it works.

Yep, I work at UPenn and when I ask about the BB team I get, "We have a BB team? Didn't know that"

This should be your response when people ask:

Penn 2 really good scorers at 6’5” and 6’9” TJ Power who averaged 16/7.5. Not a super athletic team, no dynamic guard play. Multiple Illinois high school kids.

I like the matchup.
Ethan Roberts missed the ivy league tournament because of a concussion and he doesn't sound like he will be back.

Without him I don't think they have the firepower but it's healthy I wouldn't say I love the matchup. Fran is going to create open looks and his team will score. Yes, Illinois should be able to score but I think it's close if Penn is fully healthy.

With all due respect to Penn, but if we have a problem here, we have very, ugly and unfixable issues.

Do you think Vegas is wrong or that kid is worth 20 pts?

LOL at all the people on Tomi's arse for answering a question about his facial hair in the middle of talking way more about actual hoops and the team

Its not like he just upped and started waxing poetic about staches

Personally. I’m glad our guys aren’t as up tight as lots of fans on the board.

Yesterday, that same group of fans were calling this team “ChatGPT” with no personality. Now they’re mad at a mustache.

Time to get a grip.

The Illini should beat the hell out of Penn.

Scenario: If they play the Tarheels, have BW give a speech, and then exact revenge with a double-digit victory. If this happens, the game vs. Houston could be a pick'em.

Scenario: VCU beats Carolina, and favored Illinois wins in R2, but it's a very close game. If this happens, expect a 7 - 12 point Houston victory.
